I am going with a set of Chevy 63" springs in the back of my Tacoma soon and I will need to use a 2"-3" lift block in the back to even it out with the front. I know aluminum is not a good material for blocks but what about cast iron? I found some on summitt racings catalog, do thay make just regular steel ones?

Contact Roger Brown for blocks. He will make you what you want.(out of solid steel)
A lot of the older trucks use the cast ones, they are heavy duty and will hold up to about anything. The solid steel ones are sweet, but they are $$$$$$. The alum. ones suck ass and they will break on the first trip. My buddy had them on and they lasted 20min. into the wheeling trip!

if you can weld, make your own out of 3/8" steel plate. you can also integrate shims into them if necessary. if you can't weld, go with roger brown (http://4crawler.cruiserpages.com/4x4/ForSale/Shims.shtml). he makes some awesome products, custom made too

I made a set a few years ago for my Bronco, they were made from solid 6010 aluminum and they held up fine. As for the cheapie ones you go buy that are Aluminum they will break. I would say if there is something you can do with the mounts now to eliminate the blocks you will be happy later when you don'e have to change it. IMHO

I mounted the shackle hanger under a peice of 2.5" receiver hitch tube and added an AAL to match the 44044s I put up front. There is a LONG thread in the Toy section about this very thing, it might give you more ideas. IMO, a 2" block isn't a big deal as long as it's not cheap aluminum junk. Steel and cast should work fine.
