Phoenix police Detective Sallie Dillian stepped inside the motorhome, and the stench was overwhelming.

Garbage was piled on the kitchen stove and countertops. The only recognizable food in the refrigerator was a box of takeout chicken.

The carpet between the bed and the tiny bathroom was stained brown from body fluids. Maggots crawled around.

"That's probably where all of them were," Dillian said, referring to six women Cory Morris is suspected of killing since July.

This is the motorhome where Morris, 24, lived and where police believe six women died after Morris lured them there with money and drugs. Morris reportedly told police he strangled five of the women during sex and has been charged with murder in three of their deaths.

According to court records, Morris told police he kept some of the decomposing corpses in his motorhome for days before dumping them in his central-city neighborhood.

On Thursday, Phoenix police detectives spent a second day seizing evidence from the impounded motorhome.

"We did find a woman's dress," Dillian said, "and a lot of trash. But you never know what's going to have a latent print on it or DNA. Everything could be evidence. That's why we take our time."

"It's easier to take too much and not need it than to take too little."

She placed an evidence card with the number 70 on it against a black sandal.

"We're looking for things that belong to women," Dillian said. "We're looking for identification. We'd love to find purses. Anything that links him to these women."

Hairs. Tissue. Blood. All of it could, potentially, be there.

"There could be a number of things in there that could contribute to these deaths," said Detective Mike Polk. "You end up taking just about anything because you don't know what could be in there."

Item 78 is a pair of black suspenders. No. 79 is a hand-held mirror.

"Hey, a bloody sock," said Jerry Yarbrough of the Crime Scene Response Unit, pointing under a table. Item No. 82.

Detectives combed the filthy trailer methodically, inch by inch, taking a hair clip, a bus ticket, cups, even samples of the liquids left inside.

Every piece of evidence was photographed before it was removed. Outside, it was placed on a clean sheet of butcher paper, photographed again then wrapped up and sealed inside an evidence bag.

Detectives were careful not to contaminate evidence, changing gloves with each new item.

On a shelf were two Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals. A brown stuffed bear was on the bed, next to the pillow. A rosary hung from a cabinet.

Wood paneling in the motorhome was divided into sections, and swabs were taken of each, in case they might reveal DNA evidence. Carpet was pulled up. A jacket resembling one worn by the last victim in a booking photograph in February was on the ground.

Flies buzzed around.

Police say the search could take six or seven days. In a pile of pillows and clothing at the front of the motorhome, they hope to find women's clothing. All but one of the victims was found naked.

Item No. 109 is a coffee cup.

No. 110 is a bracelet.

A man's white tennis shoe had a napkin stuck to the sole.

"This is where you're going to make an unquestionable connection between the suspect and the victim," Dillian said. "Jurors like something physical. Jurors like something to look at, something to touch. They like something that the scientists can look at and say this belongs to somebody. If we don't collect it now, we don't get another opportunity. . . . It's gone."
