Where is the Calrocs event on May 2-4 going to be held? The calrocs site says Reno (moonrocks?). I was talking to a few guys at the RCAA event last weekend and they thought it was in Fernley. I hope moonrocks, IMHO a much better venue.

I think its in Fernley, I hope not as Im not a big fan of homemade courses. But we can pray its at moonrocks because that place is pretty sweet for comps!!!

Fernely, spoke with Rich about it last weekend. BLM only allows two comps a year @ Moon Rocks, and Cal Rocs did not get the draw... Rich is working on that though:D

I believe it was UROC that got the draw for the 2nd event, they're tentative schedule has it at the same date as supercrawl...which Moon Rocks is not a large enough venue to support supercrawl. Calls are being made to the BLM to either get the date changed (another UROC event) or to let another organization, like Cal Rocs host an event there.

super crawl can not be held at moonrocks....period. (per BLM)

And yes the CalROCS event is at Fernley. Maybe not the better than moonrocks, but better get used to these type of venues, with everything that is going on, private land....natural or manmade is better than nothing at all.

is there on site camping available at Fernley, or at least stuff in the area? I'm thinking I'll try to make it now, as now I have to pick up a parts car in carson city for my boss 302 resto...

Tent or RV? There isn't a tree within 20 miles of the course and wind can be a huge problem.

Pro-Rock was there late last year. Fernley Raceway is 30mins east of reno. There is a map here:

As far as the courses and the facility go, here are some pics from Pro Rock back in September 2002 . Look in the background and see what it's like.

I was hoping to go but i dont know if its worth the drive to see it on a manmade course. I had a great time at moonrocks last month other than the wind.

There will be on site camping, if you wish to use it. Very primitive, but the price is right.

The man made course is or can be very difficult. Yes moonrocks is a better location, but as stated earlier in the post...........

Fernley was a tough challenge and I'm really looking forward to going. The owner of the property, his name is Rich I believe, is totally gung-ho about building this place into something that is good for spectators, competitors, and promoters...
