Sup guys, I'm thinking now that if I can get away with it I'm gonna keep my dh bike and build up a hardtail for all around rides. If I do this, I'd kinda wanna keep it on a semi budget so I had a kickass bike that wasn't too expensive, so I could keep the dh bike and the hardtail at school w/ me and be happy. So my idea, a hardtail frame that can climb decently and go down like a bat outta hell. Something that can handle a xc ride as well as some jumping and some freeriding. Something at home on an open descent, or a twisty sigletrack. Basically I'm trying to find the hardtail of the gods on a budget. My current ideas are the Santa Cruz Chameleon, the Cove handjob, the Cove siffee fr, a Norco torrent, or maybe a Brodie devo. As far as forks go, I want either a manitou black, a bomber z1 freeride, or a Sherman. If you have any suggestions on good frames/components/ bikes etc, please throw em my way. As I'd need to slowly start compling and building failry soon.

I haven't as of yet been accepted into CpSLO so if worse comes to worse at least I'm into humboldt. Hopefully there'll be lots of good epics in there, I've heard rumors of a trail with lots of jumps. Also if my plans up there go as planned I'd like to try and recreate a north shore type riding experince on a smaller level with planks, drops, etc. So It pretty much comes down to a burly, plush 6 inch travel frame, or a freeride type hardtail.

ya.

my brother got denied at cal poly for business admin next fall.

he applied for summer but hasnt heard yet.

he had like a 3.6 gpa and 1230 sat, ave was 3.9 and 1250 so he was probably like right on the edge he coulda done better too.

good luck i hope you get accepted.

if you have the balfa id rock the hardtail. cheaper. and they work well for most of the xcish rides around here.

and if u go here keep the balfa. lots of shuttleable trails.

also make sure you join the wheelmen and race with us =]

later

I will do. Ya, I have a 3.25, a 4.0, and a 3.6 for the 3 semesters at community college so I should hopefully get in okay. Problem is tho, if I keep the balfa... I will probably scratch my proposed sas, sell my axle, and be happy with what i got. Cuz I figure theres still prolly wheeling down there for a stock yota and I can always make friends with wheelers who have extra seats too.

buy my Le Toy and throw a single crown fork on it. Can't get anything better for even near the price. ;) seriously any hardtail is gonna climb better than your DH bike. My Le Toy weighs in right around 40lbs, it could easily be build up under 40, the frame weighs about 6 i think. My favorite thing about the le toy is that it is so adjustable. adjustable wheelbase, can use mtb or bmx bb, 24"-26" wheels, discs, cantis, whatever you want.

Yo steve, have you done any climbing on your Le Toy at all? Cuz I'd be needing a frame that'd be decent enough a climber to take on really long trail rides. I'll bet that bike rips through a lot of shit tho. How much u sellin it for and what fork is on it at the moment???

i've taken it on a couple moderate XC rides. It's doable, but would be MUCH easier with a single crown fork as opposed to the Jr T that's on it now. Here are all the specs on it...

Hmmm, The only two things inquestion as of now are the frames size and the fork. I'm like 6'2, and this would probably be my primary bike for riding so It'd have to fit well enough to go up a few hills, it looks a bit small, but then again it might work out decently too. I'd have to check it out in person fo sho, but the bike does definately look sick. I found a possible buyer for one of my older toys, so hopefully I can get somethin new soon. Ummm, how much would you want for your bike?

Ian, the le toy is freeride/dirtjumping machine. The seat tube is gonna be too low to use for a xc bike. If you want something somewhat inexpensive and better all around buy a norco sasquatch.:D

I'm kinda considering a norco torrent at the moment unless I decide to waste more money and build something a lot cooler. But the Torrent would be the way to go for me, I just rode one around today and it's pretty snazzy.
