I just got my Xterrains installed and I was wondering if anyone is running them yet. What are your thoughts?

I like them alot. In S FL there are very few rocks to worry about. My truck is my daily driver, so street manners were important. I recently had them out on a run in Central FL with our club and they performed very well (My driving sucked though ;) ) and I really didn't air down.

I paid about $135 each for 35x12.50 and if you are looking for an all-around tire to run daily and play off-road with, get them. I got rid of Dunlop Mud Rovers to get these, and the Xterrains work better on and off road.

Here's a pic of one buried in sand for those who haven't gotten a good view of them yet...

HOLY CHEAP ASS 4 WHEEL PARTS BOGGER!!!

Only thing I heard was that the side wall wasn't very strong but I haven't seen any "Proof" of that yet.

Couple of questions for ya.

They're directional, what did you do for a spare, or what would you do for a spare? Being as I am made of money and cheap, I'd buy two one for each side :D Actually running a ProComp Mud might be the answer, or who gives a sheet. Half joking on the first question, but I'll explain it for the newbies.

"If you run a directional tire in the opposite direction, the wheel will turn the wrong direction, and you won't go to far. :flipoff2:

Now that I'm done messing around, what is the measured height? I want a tire that is at least a true 35" tire.

I think they look cool but know nothing about there performance they did rate them very well in one of the four wheel magazines. If I had to run anything but a swamper I would try them out.

I was refering to their ability (or lack therof) to maintain traction on sidehills.

I am not defendign them, but when i was reading FOUR WHEELER today, they actually rated them better than the claws. how accurate this is, i dont know. It is coming from FOUR WHEELER!

I just thought it was interesting.

Are they black wall? or raised white lettering? I was thinking about putting them on my daily driver, and not fond of white lettering.

The only ones I've seen have been black side wall, but you might be able to get raised white letters also. Either way, you're set. ~Steve

Where in the heck did you find them for $135/tire? Out here in CA they are up around $170 or so.

Talked to a buddy at Pro Comp, said they took a photo of a Claw tread & morphed (kinda twisted) it, added a morphed MTR sidewall and called it good based on looks. Took it to Cooper ( they build the tire, Pro Comp/4WPW owns the molds ) put it on the computer and they said it would actually work sweet based on simulations & specs. Strange way to design a tire, but if it works, do it!

Hey Terry, how's it going? So which tires did you decide to run (this week that is :D)? Last time I looked, you were selling off the GSAs?

I wouldn't rely very strongly on any magazines opinion of the products of one of thier major advertisers. 4wpw spends allot of advertising money in fourwheeler, therefor fourwheelers opinion of any 4wpw products would not stand very highly in my books.

No joke, you seen how many pages 4WPW takes up in a average Mag?? Usually about 6!! That gotta cost a arm and a leg, and I am SURE the mags will be glad to talk good about any New Venture that 4WPW is pushing. I haven't run the tires personally, but I think I'll stick with what works.

4WPW has a buy 3 get 1 free on all ProComp tires. They priced out at $177 each so total cost is $531 for all 4.

Like I said - no complaints so far. I am happy with them, but I will also be testing them a bit on Thanksgiving.

Cajun - I knew what you were referring to... lighten up a bit:smokin:
