Fuel Cell

Would someone explain how a fuel cell actually works. What is the idea, method behind it, etc. I searched and all I got was yea I use one, it's here, oh that looks cool. Any info would be great.

it holds gasoline.

it's easy to mount almost anywere. This helps with weight distribution. They have a foam baffle that keeps fuel from sloshing all over and away from the pickups.
The foam some times comes apart and cloggs your fuel system.

Fuel cells come in many shapes sizes and configurations which you can selec to best suit your needs.

So basically it's a glorified gas tank, that comes in convinient shapes. Do they come in the same type of capacities, ie 15, 19 gallons? Do they fill the same way as regular tanks?

Yep they come in those sizes.

THey have many different filler methods.

It is for holding fuel. Most racing organizatoin require them as a saftey item. Most have either a bladder or hard shell inner surronded by a metal (steel or aluminum) outer cover.
They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, fill and outlet configurations. You can get about any size/shape you want for about any configuration.-- aka great for buggies and crawlers.
The only down side is that you may not be able to use your fuel sending unit and they are not SMOG legal.
