I have a 93 explorer with the 4.0 v-6 and the starter went out on it and I've been trying to replace it. I don't know much about this car since I've only had it a few weeks. My question is where is the starter located?

just look to either side of the block on the bell housing.Should be perty aparent(if you cant see it from the top crawl underneath the rig and you should be able to see it alot better).

My 95 Explorer starter is on the driver side mounted to the transmission bellhousing. IIRC, older models had it on the passenger side. If you can't find yours, look for the starter relay on the fender and follow the wires. There is also a large wire going to it from the battery.
