: CalROCS/NARRCA Avalanche Ranch event
Big Rich 04-24-2003, 07:44 PM Just a reminder for those who might not have noticed.
We moved the event date up one week to 9-11 of May. There was a scheduling conflict with another event.
This will be a regional event like the ones we put on in Airzona and Texas, top 50% of each class will Qualify for the finals in Farmington during the RCAA Jeep Week Event. This is a great opportunity for someone who has never competed before to get your feet wet. The courses well be set according to the level of the competiton, we will not be striving to destroy your rigs. We will be lax on some of the rules (like fluid recovery systems, master kill, and such) If you have any questions please call.

Joe_W 04-24-2003, 09:06 PM note to prospective competitors....
WHen Big Rich stands up and says "we don't expect any rollovers" don't believe him :flipoff2:
In all seriousness though...if your in the area and have evr THOUGHT about rockcrawling comps then enter....it's the most fun you'll have and you'll get hooked.

That's pretty funny JOE:flipoff2: But, remember the driver's meeting...."USE THE SPOTTERS STRAP" and no one did on Saturday. Then at Sundays drivers meeting...."THIS IS WHY WE USE THE SPOTTERS STRAP" and nearly no rolls, except when not using the strap.
and Thanks for the kind words, these NARRCA comps are for the beginners and jounery men rock crawlers, even though we still allow the big dogs.

Doug K 04-25-2003, 06:41 AM We used the hell out of the strap both days... I knew better. :D

Cool! I like to see cutting edge competition as much as anyone BUT it is nice to know that there is something out there for the common man as well.

Jaffer 04-25-2003, 08:11 PM Rich-
I started tearing down "The Princess" today to get her ready for the Avalance Ranch event. See you there...
She ain't a top dog competitor but can hold her own despite a poor turning radius ... her nick name is 'cone killer'.
Jeff Mellow is in the background of this pic ... probably thinking "WTF?"
Steve and Jen are really nice folks and Avalance Ranch is a really nice place so I'm sure there will be good times in store...

You going to run stock mod or pro? Turning radius is a bit of a killer, Jim's Sami has an awfull Toyota turning radius (his steer didnt come in time) but we finally learned to take a couple backups and not even risk a gate. Learning curve was the biggest things, we had one of worst scores on Saturday and was 1 point out of having best on Sunday

The best thing Bob Hazel has done lately is elimimate his 'one cone and you point out' rule. It was killing me ...

Both times I rolled we were using the strap, so maybe Rich should have said "Use a Bigass Spotter"
If I wanted to could I sign up at the gate? Just curious...

You'd think all of the shiat he spews would start to stink after a while too. It always gets a little deep around him. Might have to bring my waiders and a stool to sit on in Reno.

If I compete will you be able to drive up there? I'd hate to think of how disapointed the crowd will be not being able to see you try to hold onto the waytooheavy Grand Cherokee...
Hal
Doug K 04-28-2003, 11:46 AM I'll be there... I'd have to drive up Friday night though... I am supposed to get my new 302 that weekend... I might just postpone getting it.
