Ok, bear with me this idea just popped into my head. I have a rear dana 60 just sitting. could I cut the tubes buy new axles and all the outer crap and have me a front dana 60? would this be cheaper than finding/ buying one. even if the axles/knuckles were going to be replaced anyway???
just an idea!

You are going to be FAR better off buying a complete front. Since you would be replacing all of the outer stuff, including a flange with the seal surfaces, rotors, knuckles, hubs, etc, not to mention the work involved, I would imagine the cost would skyrocket.
That's just opinion since I don't have much experience with front 60's

Erich is right. Standard rotation center sections are a dime a dozen. The rear $$$ is from the knuckles out, so you are better off buying a complete front Dana 60.

unless you find a bent or busted front that you can pick up for a good price I don't think it would be worth it. You could do it to prove us wrong :)
