Judging by the fact that by 10:15 am they were turning folks away at the entrance there must have been a phenomenal attendence. Just bummed to have driven 2 hours to get there and not be able to get in:( Oh well, maybe next year. Sounds like Rich is onto a good thing. For those of us turned away, please post pics and info real soon. Thanks.

They were also hiding out on Hwy 16. Like you I got there at 10:10 and got turned away. Disapointing, but will know better for next time. Will have to catch some of the action on 4x4TV.

well i just got back, i didnt take my camera with me but th event was awsome. as for the 1000 rule i belive it was due to a permit that was not obtained due to teh fact that it was on private property it was assumed that you didnt need a permit for limit of spectators. turned out anythign over a 1000 and u did, and it takes 30 days to get that permit so it wa a bummer to turn away people. jesse, i was around mike all day and he didnt seemed to worried or mention the line. he did ok, nothing fancy for the lil samy. sucks you got turned away though. lancee is still there and i have his cell number i will pm it to ya and youcan try. signal was tuff to get there. pm coming at ya, jiMMy

Well I was one of the people that used the "going fishin" line and got in.
Rumor has it that the gates open at 5:30am and better get there before 8am. If not, take some fishin pole and use the going fishin excuse.

from what rich told me over 200 were turned away.
Due to a last minute court order by the county friday evening at 4pm the event was limited to 999 people. It was completely out of richs hand and he is very sorry anyone was turned away.

Go early tomarrow it will be worth the drive, just incase take a pole and say your just going fishing and they should let you.

heres a shot of a tin bender flopping it

i used the "going fishing" excuse too..at first i was turned away at about 1015 or so..then came back 10-15 minutes later after going to that store at the stop sign, looking for a cheap pole, but wound up getting some hooks and a net...
krusty, what color is your cruiser? i was behind a cruiser that had some tall and skinny boggers, a white soft top and some diamond plate additions on the front fenders..at the gate it was parked next to a charcoal colored cruiser..was this you?

Cal Rocs was great. Not sure on where everyone finished. But the guy that won arca, (chris durum???) did a very nice flip down the side of the hill rolling 2 or 3 times over.

As far as spectators. Had there been very many more it would have been difficult to see. It was pretty hard to get around as it was. The event was great to bad I wont be able to go tommorow.

I saw the green buggy they had the that was part scout. Never saw it on the lid. It was hard to get points cause they weren't post continously throughout the day. Over all there were alot of people timing out at the beginning of the day.

Dang sorry I missed the gig, Len. Not being there to do my fair share of food consumption sucks big time - letting the team down, and all:D Thanks for posting the pics.

Note to Rich for next year - more shitters and supplies, and a permit for more people! Sounds like Bob Roggy did a kick ass job of designing the course too, from the reports I've been hearing:nuke:

Dirty Harry

I had never been to one of these events before so I didn't really know what to expect. I had a good time and thought that the courses were well laid out and having everything close together and down in the gulley worked well because you could see a lot of action. As others have said I think that they were overwhelmed by the number of people and there was some confusion on courses things like that. Nothing shocking considering this is the first time this event has been held. I am suprised that no one was injured too because a lot of competitors came out of the gulley hard and fast.

There was a lot of breakage and a LOT of rollovers. Troy Muse, Kevin Carey, Brutus, and Alan from Crawltec were all out of the comp before too long. Mike S broke a knuckle, but that was rather late in the day.

I thought that the back-halfed FJ-40 that Bob Roggy built was the coolest rig there. It was SUPER sano. Alan's Cummins powered rig was cool too (if he didn't have fuel problems...) along with Grady's buggy, Mike Shaffer's Sami buggy, the Tri-County jeep (also super clean, every detail was addressed), and Jake's long wheelbase Samurai. That is just the tip of the iceberg too, there were so many trick vehicles. (You know that there are a lot of cool rigs when you don't even mention the SNORT buggies or the Sniper)

Chris Durham and Stacy Breckenridge were the crowd favorites though. Both of them made liberal use of the skinny pedal. :D

Well I just got back home from a kick ass comp. I had to get out after running 4 courses dues to breakage. I managed to bend both my rear 1/4 ellip leafs, both my front springs to the point of breakage, my front spring plate bolts stripped out of the housing on my front 60. I managed to roll 3 different times, but I drove out of 2 of them. The comps were tight and sweet. Difinitly not built for a fullsize rig like mine. Pics to follow soon

The guys fully got it today. Only 2 people made it completely thru my course, that was schaffer, and Mike from JP offroad. The picture of kevin Yoder on his side with the sami in the back ground was the only roll i had on mine course on saturday. Grady rolled pretty hard today, but that was it for my course
