As I'm getting tired of dealing with ZF pumps and Rover gear boxes, it's time to go back to the Saginaw conversion project.

I have the brackets for the pump dyed and centerpunched and am almost ready to start cutting, but I'm having a hella time finding a pulley. I need a pulley with a 3/4" bore, with no keyway that will mate to the serpentine belt and have an OD of about 5-1/2".

Also, anybody have any ideas of how far I can deviate from the exact centerline positioning of the pump shaft and not exceed the travel of the tensioner? As it is now, it is pretty damned hard to get the belt on and I don't want it to get any worse, but I also don't want it to be too loose so the belt slips, squeals and doesn't drive the things it's supposed to drive.

I'll start on the gear box after the pump is successfully mounted.

Peace,
Paul

When i did a dual belt conversion on my CJ power steering pump i found that the aftermarket provided me with the most information including detailed drawings and dimensions of their pulleys. March pulleys and those like them are very helpfull and i ended up running a March pulley on my PS... They make Serpintine replacements too... While mighty "showy" for the Jeep it works very well.
Multi Vee types of belts are even more "unforgiving" than regular Vee belts... My spec book on Industrial versions specify no more than .040" misalignment in 36"..
Late model GM "Canned Ham" pumps came with a serpentine belt... Those are a 3/4" with a taper aren't they?

Thanks Keith, I have a GM pump, but the pulley is too narrow for use on a Rover.

As for alignment issues, I am more concerned about distance from centerlines as I don't want the belt to be too loose for hte tensioner to compensate for, neither do I want the tensioner maxed out. Time to get the fancy measuring sticks out I guess.

Paul
