Well i just finished installing my full width axles (44/60) and 38's w/spring over and 1.5" springs. now to the top of the windshield is 79"s. Seems a Bit tall to me what do y'all think? i've got a 80" track width. anyone else out there have some height measurements on their jeeps w/spring overs?
Thanks
Bob
p.s 79 CJ5 stretched 2.5"s in front and looking at 3"s in back

haha you know that thing called center of gravity? will it tends to go to shit when you get taller. hence my question. i want the best of both worlds, clearance and good low stance. :smokin: can't have my cake and eat it to i guess.

Mines 81" tall and my track width is about 78" Works great for me. Doesn't feel tippy at all.
Of course the 60 and 14 bolt are NICE and heavy to keep the rubber side down.

Here's a pic of mine so you can see.

Sorry - my mistake. Just checked, mine is 80" as wide as well.

What are you running for tires and wheels? My axles are narrowed to 64.5" and my Jeep is the same wdth as your full width axles?

rear 60 is 65"s wide like most but front is actually only 65"s cause I used a wide track 44 housing w/8 lug outters. And i have 15x10's w/38.5x15's.
thanks for the info and pic.

Have you ramped the thing yet? wondering if you have a rubbing problem. Body lift installed?

Got a YJ, that's getting SOA'd this week to and Reverse shackled. Was hoping to clear 38's as well.

Bob,

Don't worry bout it..... :D I am 82" to top of windsheild and 76" wide outside the tires. I don't feel that unstable, I really pucker up when off camber but I have had no signs of it trying to dump over.

Glad ya got it done !!! :D

Where's the grease coming from? CV centering kit? or u-joints? slip splines?

its from the centering kit(the ball and socket what i call it),, but yeah its the second shaft in less than 3 months

the shaft is only 15-1/2" at ride height, thanx to the :(203:(,,, so its a nub:(

planning on installing the d300 this winter (or when $$$ is avail.) but i have to do something for the time being

any advice would be appreciated;)

Is the centering kit seal missing or damaged? If so - you can get a new one at a spicer shop. Replace that, and you should stop losing so much grease. (and the shaft will last longer).

Almost done swapping the 4to1 and HD output into my D300.

I think you need some R&D.
Wheel it, if it flops easy it was too tall

I am running at 84" tall at the roll cage, 83" wide out side of tire to outside of tire, and about 105"/106" wheel base. My weight is about 3750/3800 lbs. The rig is pretty well ballanced right now, but I am planning to remove the 3" body lift, as soon as I have time to cut away the tub and tranny tunnel around the 5.0 and drive train componets. You shouldnt be bad, but anywhere you can find to get weight off your back end, and/or get the CG lower, will only help overall performance. Even if you arent the point of instability, weight up high, will pull traction away from your uphill tires, and make steep climbs that much harder, or impossible.

Too Tall?!?!?

no such thing!

glad you finally bit the bullet and did it. as you know, i'm a bit taller and wider. 42's and D60/D70 full width with 2.5" backspacing on 10" wheels, not to mention 3" springs + SOA.

i am looking for a pair of Rockwells (2.5) top loaders to replace the 60 and 70. know anyone looking for 1 ton axles?

yup finally bit the bullet that's for sure. you plan everything out and it still ends up being twice as expensive as you thought. going 2.5 ton huh? sheesh. only if i had the cash i'd like those 1 tons. oh well.
