You are going to have to look out of state. The market for both new and used in Ca is very good if your a seller because of the high demand. A 6-8 hour drive may be worth it. I personally have brought several bikes from Nv. What are you looking for and the $$ range.

I primarly would like a 4-stroke. Basicly something for doing singletrack trails in tahoe, a little of dunes and hollister/praire city stuff.

I started off with a budget of 4k. But now I am thinking less because I would be using this bike very little comparied to my wheeler.
I just found a 2001 yz426f for $3800 and that bike is at the top of my list, but I have to rationalize, which is very hard to do when your looking at buying stuff.:D

So anything newer than 90' 250cc-400cc under $3000
That gives me lots of choices huh:rolleyes:

you could probably find a 2000 or newer 2 stroke KTM in that price range.

Patience... I used to search every online source possible. cycletrader.com, e-bay,off-road.com, etc. Found the bike that suited me perfectly about 15 miles away from my house. Good luck.

Yeah, I was looking for about 6 months. Hell, in that amount of time, I changed my mind like 10 times about which bike I wanted to buy.:D

Try the following:

www.bayarearidersforum.com - primarily street bikes but there is a dirt bike forum and classifieds.

www.thumpertalk.com - name says it all. Not NorCal specific.

www.ktmtalk.com - again, not NorCal specific

www.dirtrider.net - not NorCal specific but there's always a lot of activitity

I've got a '90 KX500 that I would like to sell if I can get a reasonable price for it. Here's one the threads - http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126687&highlight=KX500

I can't find the other thread on here but the jist of it was with all the new body work, FMF silencer, etc, etc I'd like $2100 OBO. If you're at all interested send me an email at brian4wd@hotmail.com and I'll get you a copy of the flyer I made up.

Brian

thanks for the additional links.
Sounds like a nice bike in the right price range, but it may be a little much for me to handle.

The bike will only go as fast as you want it to:) Just show some restraint with the right wrist and all is good in the world.

Seriously, if you're not a newbie rider the KX500 is a great all around bike IMO - light weight but lots of bottom end with plenty of power on tap if you need or want it. I was riding it a little at Middle Creek the day before the Sawmill enduro and was having a blast. It lugs down low w/o stalling better than my WR and the front wheel will come up with just a flick of the wrist when needed. I better be careful - I'm talking myself into keeping it.....

Good luck finding a bike,

Brian
