Just wondering...who on the board is from the area? I'm spending the week of May 12th at the Texas A&M Fire School with 16 guys from our plant for fire fighting training...beer will flow, and was inviting to hook up with a wheeler for a few frosty ones at your local watering hole. Any takers?

The fire school is in College station, If I remember right its abotu 1.5 hour drive down to Houston Intercontinental airport. Its a great school tho, I did the marine firefighting and had a blast. Havent lived in Houston in a few years, so your on your own there.

Yes it is in College Station...I'm one of the poor smucks that was assigned to drive a van, I guess after seeing some of the rigs I've driven over the years they know I can drive anything...and try to drive it anywhere!!. We are flying into Houston from Pittsburgh.

Wish I had known about the PBB when I went there. I was there in the off season (school was out) and was bored off my ass. Even tried out the 1 (one, singular, ono) strip joint in town with its 3 dancers:rolleyes: . Oh well, I'm trying to get my command to bite off on paying to send me down to some confined space rescue classes there, I may be back someday.

The heat shouldnt be that bad in May, but if your used to cold weather it may be a bit of a shock, especially in turnout gear. I went in August, think I lost weight and I was acclimated since I had spent the 3 years previous in Houston and the Carribean. Hug that cooler and drink like a fish:flipoff2:

Yea..I know about the heat...I did a weeks training year before last at Baton Rouge, La.. The trouble for us is that we are from the chemical industry, so we train in SCBA, "breathing air". We are supposed to do a night "burn" also.

I would go, but I'll be working.(plus a 2.5 hour drive from houston). Thursdays nights are the best. (lotsa hunnies out). Just be carefull, the cops don't like the firefighters up there. BTW what plant to you work for in Ohio. I know two people that left our plant to work for what I believe was Marathon in Ohio.

Just don't get to intoxicated we had one guy hurl in his SCBA.

Porndog...I work for Bayer Corp. in the polymers group. Our plant is located at New Martinsville, WV.. Bayer also has a plant in Baytown, Texas. Thanks for the info...I know that our last night in Texas will be spent in Houston...so us drunks can find the airport in the morning.

FireSchool big advice is to keep a bucket of ice water with a towel in it and keep putting it on your head. Forget the May class. Do the August one. I suggest just taking in a few coed sights and taking it easy. Those burns are the big ones, they make all the back at the plant training look sad.

Porndog- you Tx City Marathon?

There are a lot of us in and around houston...lots of the TAMOR guys on here. I am moving up the CS in May, so I will be around...although I am not very familiar with the area. The drive from houston (NW 290 & beltway 8) takes about 75 minutes (~75 miles). You can make it in under and hour if you want...just watch out for Wellborn. :flipoff2:

Oh yeah...and like they said...if you aren't used to hot weather...the heat down here WILL knock you on your ass.:eek: :nuke:

Damn guys, I spent 3 years (97-00) stationed at the coast guard base in Galveston. Didnt get to do much wheelin down there, met up with the Southern High Rollers a couple times, but thats about it.

Just a couple meetings at Swede's place, went out to San Antonio with one of the members. Cant remember his name (I'm terrible with names) but he had a pretty stock white tj on 31's. Went to the SW4WDA spring fling in LA. I spent too much time underway in the carribean to do much wheelin.

i dont know who will still be in town from TAMOR...im sure there will be several...i know id be glad to go out and partake in some beer drinkin. school will be over at that time....
