XJ had a rear 44? and it wasn't aluminum?

well, 59" would be a rear wagoneer axle.

Yea, HD or tow pkg option on XJs and an option on the "Metric Ton" MJ.

Started 87ish, not sure when the last was offered, but I'd say for sure prior to the 91 makeover. But you know Jeep !

They turn up in my Pic and pull all the time. There 62.5" wide and use a 5x5.5" wheel pattern. There was an upgrade available on the 1000 and 1110 of a D60-2. It's a D60 with SF D44 stuff outside the pumpkin.

Early to mid 70's Ford F100's are 61"/62" I am pretty sure.

You can also look under the same year 1/2 ton International Travel-alls ('64-73). Same as the pick-ups, but sometimes more common. 2wd of 4wd will work. Sometimes you can even get decent gears and/or a Powerloc.

I actually have 3 of these rear D44's if your intrested in one.

drop me a line, but I'm in WA.

Rear XJ, TJ, MJ, YJ D44's are 61 inches. The ZJ is as well, though some are the aluminum housings. AFAIK, the aluminum housing D44 only came under a ZJ. 5 on 4.5 inch wheel pattern, though.

Some SJ (full-size Jeep, wide axle, not the narrow track, don't think it was center diff'd) D44 rear axles should be in that width.

The Scout rear axle is a bit less, around 59 inches if memory serves.

check 98+ Isuzu Rodeos and Amigos. They came with a 5 link coil sprung D44 with 6 on 5.5 bolt patern, Disc brakes and LSD on some models. should be right about 60" tho i'd have to go out to the garage and check to be sure.

I didn't know there was an aluminum housing 44. Does it have steel tubes pressed or bolted into it? does it take the same gears and lockers and stuff? are they notorious for breaking gears or spinning tubes? Just curious.

You don't want it. It's a real oddball and shouldn't even be called a D44. It uses C-clip axle shafts, a different carrier, and a different R&P set. So no aftermarket support. Steel tubes were indeed pressed into the housing.
