i just finished my first metal project for the TJ---front bumper. came out sweet as $hit.

anyway, im moving on now to the rocker...and have a quick question....

how important is it, OR is it not, to have the rocker tie into the body mounts??

i have 3"x3"x3/16" angle, and was considering putting the angle together with some 6" wide and 3/16" thick flat stock. i actually got the flat stock to make a steering skid plate...but now thinking about tieing into the body mounts...
and if i do use the flat stock to welded onto the angle iron, what is the best means of attaching them??--- just butt the ends together and weldem'? OR place the bottom of the angle over the flat stock?

this is clear as mud:flipoff2:

Mine and many I've seen aren't atached to the body mounts and they work just fine.

the ones on my CJ-7 have 5 or 6 bolts thru the body and are fine.

good lookin 7 kirk.

no real bene to tieing into the body mounts??
it would be much easier not tieing into them, thats for sure. there are alot of aftermarket companies that are using this rocker style now....no rhyme or reason?? any stronger or increase in protection??

1. bottom of angle over the flat stock?
OR
2. butt the bottom end of the angle to the end of the flat stock?
3. better option...what is it??
