Here's something else you don't see every day.

G4 official dentist performing a complete filling extraction and replacement. His equipment is completely portable, he has a full compliment of tools, suction device with a fresh water supply and a dirty water return (very slick), operates all on 110 power. He also has an inspection laser that runs on 220, that they have to use a power converter on when the engine is running to get it up to 220.

The patient is a support staff member who had ignored her tooth during the entire month-long event and had it taken care of on the 3rd last day.

The dentist is from Germany, has done several Camel Trophies, Trek, and other LR expeditions. Very nice guy. I can get all the specs on the equipment if anyone is remotely interested.

The doctor on the event had enough equipment to perform an emergency appendectomy if he needed to.

I have a lot of shots of the Ambulance 110 (my fav. vehicle in the entire event).

Didn't get to go wheelin' this weekend - but we DID get to throw that big stapler off of a 30-foot flight deck:

Now THAT'S what I call 'off-roading'.

Schweet!!!!!

:flipoff2:

I'm glad to see that there are others who have something fun to do besides things with LR's. :D

Greetings Pirate Land Rover folks!

This thread looks like a suitable place for me to loose my 'Pirate4x4' virginity :-)

If only the other one were so easy :-(

<sigh>

Anyhoo, as a sort of 'shiny trinkets for the natives' offering, here are a few pics I grabbed on Sunday-

Merv assumes 'the position'
(Who wants first go?)

Here he is 'helping' bend a high-lift-

He breaks his own stuff too-

Sometimes Damien gets to 'help' him out.
MAJOR PRIZES for captions for this one :D

The road wasn't THAT narrow, they just like rubbing up against each other!

Check out Malcolm's undercarriage-

I hope this works :-)

Here's a self inflicted :flipoff2: in case it doesn't.

Yeah, LWG, the only reason I recognized those tires is because I saw yours in the parking lot!

Nice to meet you and check out your beast. I trust you had a good weekend?

Oh yeah, and welcome newbie! :flipoff2:

Larry,
what do those go for on this side of the pond. Where/how did you get them?

We love 'em :D

They're the latest in a long line of 'the best thing ever' that you have to get if you want to stay near the top of the pile.

The trouble is, everyone's gona have them soon, and the bar just gets raised higher.
Or the ruts get deeper, if you know what I mean :(

Choppin' the Irish. Hey come on everyone, it is fun.

Here is Merv applying his Penile enlargement gel. Someone please tell him it goes on his other "head".

Meanwhile, Ivor is testing out how good his deoderent works in the Las Cruces heat (ala Catholic School Girl smelling her armpits on SNL).

Hey Bill, do you still gotta get someone with a proper truck to carry your spare wheels for you? :flipoff2:

Right!

The gloves come off now!

Any of you choppers fancy a go at this? We told Ivor we were going camping in moab and he got it all wrong! He had no idea we meant with tents and stuff.

What size are you running? On the Simex that is.

merv

35". All with 2" lifts. Works well.

wilsby
04-29-2003, 02:16 PM
Hmm, I would have guessed one size smaller. Seems to fit well. What width, and what rim?

I considered Simex for a while, but ended up with Super Swampers this time. Very happy with them, too.

Bodgerover

Simex Centipedes have a limited range - only 9.5's or 10.5's ....

If they are 35's it will be 10.5.

They are very true to written size.

wilsby
04-30-2003, 12:25 AM
The 35's are available in both 9.5 and 10.5, hence my question. You know for a fact that they are running 10.5?

My information says they are 265 and 294 mm wide respectively, which is about an inch wider than nominal.

Rovi
04-30-2003, 02:23 AM
They're 35x10.50-16. One of the guys has them in 35x10.50-15, but he's a wierdo ;)

The sidewall of the tyre (note correct spelling!:flipoff2:) claims that they should be fitted to 8.5 inch wheels, but experience has shown that that leaves them a bit too easy to push off the wheel when aired down.

All of us running 35x10.50-16 have them on reversed centre Discovery wheels (even the guy with the Toyota Landcruiser!). That gives us a nice solid 7 inch wheel with the correct offset to keep the damn things fron eating too much of whats left of the bodywork :)

At 30 psi on 7 inch wheels, they stand 34 inches tall, 10 inches across the lugs, and 11 inches across the sidewalls.

Here's a couple of pics-

That's on the front with a 200Tdi, f**k off winch bumper, and an hydraulic winch pressing down on it :)

I'll drag out the spare later and measure it 'unloaded'.

Actually, none of us are really Merv's 'friends', his Mom pays us to let him hang out with us:) :) :)

Thank's again. Do you run your engines stock, or have you tuned them? Reason I ask is that my 110 needs some right foot on inclines with tires (wrong spelling ;-) ) of similar size. Will be alleviated soon with larger intercooler and chipping, and I think/hope it will be able to cope idling again.

Ducks would be an improvement over some of the t-shirts he has arrived out in.

Can't get the 35 X 9.5's here [and who would want em? :D ] which is not surprising - arse end of the world....

Our 35X10.5's measure 35 almost exactly on 7 inch rims....

Just got it on the grapevine that Aussie has a small shipment of the new 36 X 12.5 Centipede - Wilsby on standby with your tape measure? :flipoff2:
