Spent a good 6-7 hours getting the 55 lift on yesterday.

I will get the pictures, before/after measurements, etc all posted later today.

The lift made my truck GROW (5-6 inches). I guess I was a little saggy :D .

Cool thing is, the Alcans were made so well that I didn't have any caster change. In fact, my steering is more correct now than before the lift (due to sag).

I just need to flip my steering wheel 180 degrees and I am good to go!

will update later with more info.

Link is in reply.....

:D Lift looks great. Let us know how it rides on and off trial. I am considering a set of Alcans for my 40.

what did the springs cost you?

On road it is quite nice. It actually had a fair amount of "bounce" to it as opposed to riding stiff.

Offroad? Not sure....yet =). Will let ya know. I ran over a few curbs, etc and it just swallowed em up.

As for cost.....the springs were $180 /each up front and $200/each in back.

That is for the weight rating that I got. I can add my winch, and all the other crud I have planned and still sit where it is now.

Shackles, shocks, etc all came about to about $500 more.

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the post & link. It looks great! From looking at your pics & web site, it looks like you’re still SUA, is that correct? If so, did you think about doing a SOA? I guess I’m wondering why you chose the route you did.

(I’m currently running 33s on my 55 and am thinking about doing a SOA and am gathering info on new springs.)

Please let us know how it does off-road, flex, how tippy, etc.

Thanks!

I am still SUA. I chose this route because I still drive a LOT on the road and stability was a concern (this is still a daily driver).

I can tell you that after 2 days driving it it is just as stable on the road post lift as it was before....no tippiness at all. Even with the sway bar removed.

I only want to run 33s, and the SUA with these springs should provide all the flex for the trails that I do (Northern Georgia doesn't need quite as much as out west).

I am kinda old fashioned when it comes to wheeling. If I can't make it, I try a different route, not just bash it and build it strong enough to take it. I guess that is part of the reason that I went with the SUA lift. I am not dedicated trail, and I get enjoyment working a trail with the stock feel, even if it is with altitude =).

BY the way...I still have manual steering on Pig Pen.

Dan, the pig looks great. Rather than flipping the steering wheel 180 degrees like you mentioned you would be better off to adjust your drag link to correct the steering wheel position. It will need to be longer to compensate for the lift. If you just flip the wheel then you will not be able to turn as sharp to the right.
