: Best Dimension for LCA's????

Hey Guys

My buddy has a TJ with a 4" Superlift and he was hitting the LCA's on full flex on the mounts.

He bought the Tera ones (not the long arm kit) and we are going to install them soon.

I was wondering what the majority thought was the best way to install them??

Should we install them at stock length (they are adjustable)? Or is there a certain dimension that should correct for the lift kit and return the steering to normal?

Any math whizzes have the stock dimesions of the front steering geometry triangle? If so, I can use that to calculate Exactly how long they should be to return to the stock geometry

Anyone??

Any tips or advice is appreciated1

Thanks

In front, I start them out 1/2" longer than stock, usually that will do the trick. A front align will tell for sure.

The rears you just adjust for pinion angle.

I'm not too sure what he is hitting them on that is bad but I'd just worry about the caster for the front. If that is set good all else should fall into place.

He was actually hiting the top of the stock stamped lower control arm on the control arm braket on the axle. It is not really bad, just stopped all downward travell of that wheel. By going with the aftermarket round arms he will gain an inch or two of downward travell.

Exactly, once you go to round most of that prob will be solved. Once you start getting more articulation you will hit it w/ round arms also. I would have cut the bracket out but I swapped in the 44 w/ the RE brackets (they are shorter).

are you sure he has the axle end installed correctly, my RE LCAs are offset some if you put them in upside down they would surely hit like that.

it would be really difficult to use strictly math to get you diminsions, i like Hellbender just add some to the stock length (.25" to start) and let the caster in the front and pinion in the rear dictate what needs to happen from there.

No, he is right, it's b/c the stock arms are so tall...
