: Ford "EOD" transmissions ????

Okay, I know the "EOD" isn't that great of an auto trans., so
I'd like to avoid it if possible. What years did Ford use this trans. ????

It's actually e4od. I knwo the diesels used it from the late 80's (at least 89, mabey earlier) throught 97, I think. After 84, most of the problems were fixed, but the early ones are definetly junk, or at least behind a diesel.

E4ODs are very stout trannys in there later years. you are prolly thinking of the AODs which is a light duty car tranny.

the e4od was fine as long as its not behind a diesel..If it is then you should get 80 to 110k out of it before it needs a rebuild then a replecement every 50k..But thats in a work truck..a d/d may be better..
