Ok since you guys figure you know so much about roll cages what do you think of using erw? Put the seam on the inside I know that much, but as for strength will it hold up? I wanted to go with 2" .125 wall. What kind of strength does the factory center hoop have on a factory yj. I havent decided on whether to replace it or add on to it. I spend my time in the mud but it looks like alot of you spend your time on the rocks gettn it. I would think if your cages can hold up to the rocks it should hold up to trees and mud.

you'll be perfectly fine using that size tube for your cage.
And if possible, do try and place the seam on the inside of
the bends.

Cool thanks. I get tommorow off so I will be pricing out both dom and ewr. Gotta borrow a bender from a friend so hopefully it will bend ok, no kinkss. I will have to do a couple of test bends.

as long as you have a real tubing bender it bends great.

That just it. I havent seen it so it might be just a cheap pipe bender. We will see.

What exactly is ERW and how does it compare to DOM

I think that was discussed somewhere before. Not a 100% sure though.

its rolled then electric welded, this produces a seam. Lotta folks think DOM has no seam. It does, you just cant see it (although normally you can see it on the inside of the tubing) since drawing it over the mandrel removes the seam line. For the additional cost I dont at all feel DOM is warranted.
