I'm thinkin about buyin an XR50 but have never ridden a mini-bike. It just looks like a blast. If i put new bars and stuff on it, would i be able to ride it at 6'1? Also what are the laws on riding these things on sidewalks and stuff?

yeah you could ride it. i'm 6'1" and my knees stick out to the sides. they are a blast to ride. they will go up anything. just hold the throttle open and the centrifugal clutch slips you up the hills.
in the 60's or 70's they made them street legal. i know that cause i had one that was street legal. turn signals and all.

what do you think it's worth? guy says he wants 2200. I was hopin to get it for around 1700. I should be able to get close to that for my mtb so it would basically be a wash (at least that's how i'm justifying it to myself ;) )

I've got a little 71 mini trail 50 that I ride on the sidewalks, from what I understand, if it's 49cc or lower it can be ridden on the sidwalks just like a bike, scooter, whatever.
However, I've heard of people getting tickets for riding little xr50's around, then again they are a little faster.

No its not leagal at keast in oregon to ride any motorized unit on the side walk. And you cant ride them on the street either,,,but we do anyway..Myself and friends all have xr and z50's we reace on wed and fri nights at a little 50 track..some of my friends are over 6ft and have no problems riding with the upgrade bars and triple clamps..A coulpe buddys have 88cc kits in them and they just flat out haul a$$!!They make so much shit for those things its crazy...BBr,two brothers, sano, fast 50's, are some of the top stuff..And some of its pretty pricy too..The first thing I recomend in bars and triple clamp,,then front and rear shock springs..These are must have otems to really get the full potential of the ride..Then get you buddys to get some to ,find a small track and have derbys with anything goes the cheating winner takes all..ITS SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!Here is a couple of links to chek on,,also e-bay has ton-o stuff at somtimes good prices as well....

I've got a Honda CT 70 that I bought for my daughter (she's 10) but, I end up riding it more than her. They are stretched out alittle longer if you are tall. I'm 6'2" and fit it fine. I haven't licensed it yet but, it does have lights. They make great camping bikes.

Yea,,but anything bigger then a 50 takes the fun away of having a mini bike..Yea,,The ktm and some other two stroke 50's kick ass but the aftermarket side for the big guys like us is small compared to the xr50..and hell after you put an 88cc kit in a 50 it hauls a$$ anyway..They go as big as like 110 or 125 and stroker kits too for the 50..
