: women and garages..............
sceep 05-01-2003, 12:42 PM so the 30' x 40' thread got me thinking..
dood said the gargae had to be "puurdy" for his wife. WTF? you want the garage purdy then you better be out here wrenching, keeping your own car in tact.
a garage is a garage is a garage, its always going to stink lke exhaust and gasoline, probably have a mouse in it, and more than likely theres a beer or four that has been spilt and NEVER cleaned up more than kicking some dust onto the puddle.
wtf.. purdy garage.
i"m so glad all the women that i know either, wrench on their junk, dont care, or butt out. :D

fj40john 05-01-2003, 12:46 PM the inside of my DD smelled like that for a while....not pleasant after a day of sitting all closed up in the Houston summer...the smell would about knock you on your arse when you opened the door. I finally decided to clean it.:D
TexasBlake 05-01-2003, 12:46 PM posters of chicks and bikinis makes garages purdy.
79broncn 05-01-2003, 12:47 PM Right on man! She has her new kitchen...and I have my puny,
roof-leakin', broke-ass garage.
"Garage" implies use for parking cars, storing christmas ornaments and tupperware...
"Shop" is what you should call it - scares most wimmin's away ;)

Good point.
Roxywheels 05-01-2003, 12:55 PM Women get to do whatever they want with the rest of the house...they need to leave the garage alone and let the guy have his space. If she parks in the garage then make sure that area is clear, other than that they need to go back in the house and decorate something :D :roxy:

Keep it up :roxy:. We appreciate your...uh...values. :D
Oxjockey 05-01-2003, 01:11 PM I'm going to to against the grain and say that if you have a nice house and lot, the shop should be on par with that, if it's near the house and you're not on a farm. I'd think a metal hanger like the one in the other thread would decrease my property value somewhat.
I'm ONLY talking about the outside, the inside should be whatevah.

Bingo! :D
Outside has to "match the character of the house".... inside the shop.... ALL MINE! Well, a small corner for parking her Honda. (garage portion).
Funny part... it will be a two story. About 1500 down stair, 1200 ft up stairs.... that extra 300 ft is room for the LIFT! She is still wondering why I set it back on one side by 15' (hint, out of view of the house will be a 10' x 50' gravel area... where else do you stuff those "project rigs" and keep the shop clean). Where do I park... OUTSIDE... Inside is only for topless Land Cruisers!
Detached. 3/4 bathroom and beer fridge are requirements. Yes, and a place to stash all those old Playboys. :p

I meant the outside of the shop. We are fixing to build a new home on some land we just obtained. I do not want a shop out back that will "take away' from the house......It ain't like I am going to be putting lamps and pillows in the shop - I was referring to Exterior only....

Calm down! Breathe, breathe.
It may make the entire property unattractive to some buyers - case in point in looking for a house we could barely find any with a major shop (to indicate how little they're wanted by the mainstream public). An unattractive one would have tear me down written all over it. A nice one might be left alone, but go unused.
TIE1ON 05-01-2003, 01:57 PM Hahahahahahhahahaha My garage will consist of a clean floor, a clean workbench, neat and organized tools, one of those kegerators that Silly posted yesterday, that thing ROCKS, and last but not least, lots of posters of half naked men!!! :flipoff2:
