I finally pulled the rear d60 out of my partners 72 Ford van. For free it was hard to pass up. Now all I have to do is decide what to do with the thing.

I hauled it home and started tearing it down today. It is a FF 30 spline and roughly 1 1/4" (1.31?) The problem is a passenger side offset for the diff. The long side axle is 40 1/2" and short side is 31 1/2. The tubes look like 3". Open carrier with 3.73's.

This might go into my 98 Tj in a year or two but don't know if its worth the trouble due to the offset diff. If I cut the long side to match the short its a tad narrower than the d44 I have now. Perhaps retube the thing and go with 9" outers?

Any feedback or suggestions?

If you decide to use it, make sure its a Dana 60 and not a Dana 61 before buying gears. Lots of Ford vans had the Dana 61 rear axle in them.

There should be a "60" stamped directly in to the housing. Dana 61's are not stamped (at least those I have seen).
