I was told that a reg cab C1500 with a long bed has the same WB as a shortbox with an excab......



Is this true? I would seriously like to swap cabs/boxes on my reg cab if so I know were a few ex cabs are!! :confused:

I believe that is correct. If not, just swap cabs, and put a flatbed on it. :D

They should be exactly the same. At least my dad and I think... It makes sense that they both would be the same WB, doesn't it?

No they are NOT the same, already checked into it. The reg cab long box is 131.5" and the ext cab short box is 141.5". Hard to believe there is ten inches difference, but I checked. I have a 1 ton reg cab, and I wanted a ext cab short box, using my frame, adn I would have to do alot of cutting to get it to work. The frame on my truck is really clean, and don't want to ruin it.

The portion of the frame under the cab is also much lower, it would turn up in the wrong spot. Just get a different truck if you want to do it that bad, even if it did work out with your frame, you'd probably be ahead to just swap trucks.
