So I picked up a 1970 for free ( tenants abandoned it when they moved ):D
It looks like a high pinion Dana but there are no #'s cast in the webing. Has a coil springs lift set up. What is it?
The rear looks like a 9" , the drive shaft comes out " low" from the diff. , but how good is a eary ford rear end?
The engine is almost all there and has 5 valve cover bolts. Any idea's?
Its an auto . What kind?
What type of transfer case is it?
There is also a dana 80 laying in the yard with a wide six bolt pattern. Can this be modified to a regular 6 pattern or a 5 x 5 1/2"?
Any help on any question is appreciated cuz Im new to the Ford thing.

It's a RC D44, but it has drum breaks and uses the smaller 260X u-joints, but all you need is new shafts to run the 297X joints.

The rear is a is a 9", and should be 31 spline...not sure if it's a big bearing or small bearing.

The motors prob a 360 possibly a 390, trans is c-6 and t-case is prob just a single speed (no low range) D21 maybe?

Thanks for the info. I will check the transfer case in a couple of weeks when I go back up there. Is there another case with low that will bolt right up?
Does the 360 and 390 interchange and can I use the same flex plate?

yep, the 360/390 (and all other FE's) can use the same flex plate.

for the t-case...not sure but maybe a D20 would bolt up?
