I'll be there. Gonna try and get on the list for Pumpkin Eater, if it's full we'll run it Saturday night or Sunday.
Stop by and say HI - Point Mugu 4 Wheel Drive Club, white Wrangler w/ blue club stickers, parked next to a blue GMC dually with a Lance camper.

Hey folks that live in So Cali.,
This event is a fund raiser for the California Association of 4 wheel drive clubs. These are the people that are fighting to re open trails like Surprise canyon. They are also fighting to keep other trails open. So if you can please go this weekend. Events like this one are their bread and butter. If you have any questions go to http://www.cal4wheel.com/.:)

Thanks:D

I was going to LCIR, but I got an "offer I couldn't refuse".
I get to share a 32' motorhome if I go to Hi Desert, so I
changed my plans and we're arriving Friday about noon. :D

You stand a real good chance of picking it up on the radio out
there. Better than at LCIR.

I will be heading out after work on friday.. Leaving Ventura just in time to hit the rush hour traffic in LA.. So dont know what time I will be there early Sat morning I am guessing.. Will be in a Black wrangler with 5.0 on the hood along with a bright orange cj-7. Stop by for a beer or three..

We're leaving San Diego about 9am, so we should get there about noon.

The only REAL traffic you should hit is the 405 between the 118 and the 14. Once I get into Palmdale I take the Pearblossom exit but I kinda take the back roads through Adelanto, up the 395 and hang a right on Shadow Mountain Parkway, then take old 66 the back way into Barstow. Usually takes me about 3 hours.

I have no room since I'm driving the Heep up. I'll ask Aaron
tonight if he's bringing any.

I am heading up there for the first time. What are the "difficult" runs that they have? I don't want to get stuck on any suv runs with my CJ. Also is it free range or do you have to stick to designated trails?

Thanks,
~Kirk

You can tell which ones are the most difficult by the tire and locker requirements posted on the sign up sheet. The hard runs fill up pretty quick - Pumpkin Eater, Outer Limits, off the top of my head. Achy Breaky (or whatever they're calling it these days) is kind of a moderate run with some optional difficult sections. The runs are Saturday morning/afternoon. Everybody goes out Saturday night and Sunday and runs 'em all again so you can always play around on the hard stuff later. It's all open area. (For now)

I am contemplating leaving around 6 pm or leaving around 12 am. How long do you guys think it would take to get there if I left at 6 and 12 from Pomona? I rarely drive up 15 so I don't know the traffic patterns and trouble spots. Can anyone recommend any "short cuts"? I hate traffic but I don't know if it will be any better at 12.

TIA,
Kirk

At 6 PM you're gonna have the Vegas get away crowd. By 12AM you mean midnight, right? Traffic should be pretty clear by then.

like was said, 6pm you get the vegas crowd. usually it moves along fairly steady once you get above the 15-215 interchange in devor. and the 15 is about the only way up without heading through creastline.
