I am not getting any response in the wanted so I thought Ide try here. I need a np435 for an early bronco swap really bad.

The one that I bought if for a 4x4 and it wont work. The guy I bought it from lied to me. NOw the bronco is sitting at my buddies completely apart and he needs it out of the yard.

PLease if anyone has one that will work
PM me.
thanks Lou

is the one you got a 4x4 np435
if so, when you bought it did you get the np205 transfer case?
I am in the process of swapping the 4x4 np435 in mine.
I am gonna have to move and make new crossmember for the setup. The way it is going I will have to use a 78-79 bronco rear CV drive shaft ( might have to cut 1-2" out if it)
the front I will more than like cut down my original rear driveshaft.

what will you be getting by doing this...first off the np205 isn't as low as the dana 20 but it isn't that much of a difference.
Second you will be gettin alot better(stronger) TCase
the 20's have had the rear output shafts broken
so this will cure that problem too.
if you are gonna do this and have any question just buzz me.

I agree with 'Shoope1'
Since ya already have the Tranny, get the 31spl NP205 T-case.
The D20 is a 'flywieght' compaired to the NP205.
The NP205 wieghs 60Lbs more, but you will NEVER bust it.
I contemplated the NP435->D20 swap(even had the parts), but then did the NP435->NP205 instead.
No reason to add a weak link.

But the gearing in the Dana20 is a lil more favorable.

I personally have a NP435/205 and love it the Low Range SUCKS

NP435 D20 w/4.10 =67.2:1 crawl ratio
NP435 NP205 w/4.10 =53.8:1 crawl ratio
NP435 NP205 w/4.88 =63.9:1 crawl ratio

haveing just moved from 4.10 to 4.88 I will say there is a pretty dang noticable differance and a desireable differance at that too.... for your situation it might be something for more of a temporary thing

as far as the NP435 u need... I *Believe* you need a 28 spline output which is found in two wheel drive models.

Dana20=28spl input shaft. Same as 2wd trannies AND divorce T-case 4X4 trucks.

Sure "NP435 D20 w/4.10 =67.2:1 crawl ratio "

BUT...... NP435 NP203 NP205 w/4.10 = 109.7:1 (with possibillity of 3:1 gears coming out !!!164.6!!!)
while keeping some Hi-way speed available

:flipoff2:

IMO- I'ld sacrifice some gearing for indestructability.

You need the 2wd trany that has the 28 splined output shaft (you have to pull the tail housing off to count for sure but as far as I know they are all 28 splined) Another option is the T-18 out of the 2wd Ford trucks, as long as the tail housing bolt pattern is square not trapazoid (unless you have the advanced adapter then it will work with either patern) then it will work fine, the T18 has a slightly higher first 6.3 instead of 6.6 and it is about 3/4-1" longer than stock and you have to drill two holes in your x-member to make it fit but it's not hard.
Good luck

BUT...... NP435 NP203 NP205 w/4.10 = 109.7:1 (with possibillity of 3:1 gears coming out !!!164.6!!!)

What is the difference in weight for this combo as compared to and NP and Atlas or some sort of auto tranny and atlas. I have considered both, but weight is a concern but not sure if it should be.

Money does grow on trees for this scenario/question

NP435 w/o Bell = 137Lbs. Aluminum 302 Bell = 10Lbs.
Dana 20 = 82Lbs.
NP203(range box) = 80Lbs.
NP205 = 141Lbs.
(I weighed ALL these myself)
PLUS your adapters, but they shant weigh much if they are aluminum.

So NP435-D20 is only 219Lbs.
The NP435-NP203-NP205 is 385Lbs. (139Lbs. more)
(No adapters, No Bell's)
If weight is a consern and $$$ aint, Atlas is probly your best bet.
But I HATE just having 1:1 & 4:1.

does anyone know if I can take the input and output shaft off of the 4x4 np435 tranny and switch them with my stock 3 spd shafts

thanks

I don't think you can switch shalfs from a 3 speed to the four speed ...But I think you can switch the 2wd np435 to the 4wd np435

swapping shafts from 2wd to 4wd(or vise versa) does work.
The output shafts are ALL the same(internaly) Ford, Chev, Dodge.
That gives you a selection of 23, 28, 31, or the SUPER RARE 32spl.

The NP435-NP203-NP205 is 385Lbs. (139Lbs. more)

So we are not talking that much difference...about the weight of a girl with some heafty fun bags.

Thanks

But I would rather have the FUN Bags than the np203.:flipoff2:

Hey rogue, i have one of those "super rare" 32 spline 435 outputs. It came from a 76 f250 highboy. I had to argue with a guy for like 10 minutes that it was indeed 32 and not 31 spline. Are these good for anything, like maybe plugging in to a chevy 1 ton 205 as they are also 32 spline? Just brainstorming. I didnt mean to post hijack :D

How sure is sure?? If its 'for real' I'ld guess it wasn't stock.
As for 'whats it good for'......
I'ld say it would be sweet for goin from Ford powertrain to Chev 32spl NP203 and/or NP205 for Chev side front diffy. ;)
Worth 'ultra $$' if you can find the right guy, but its not worth 1/2 a fresh shit to the other 99.9% of people. :D

BTW- howz the truck "THREAD JACKER!!!!"

Lure,
I changed out the main shaft in my 435 a while back for my 435/klune/atlas setup. I saved the old main shaft, the trany was in good shape when I took it apart. If ya want it, it's yours. I'm located in Rio Vista, PM me.
