I've done a search and determined that I want to look for an axle with welded C's. Probably from a 76-77 F150. What exactly is involved? Looks like it should almost be a bolt in swap. Do the C's need to be moved in?

Any help will be appreciated ;)

You don't have to move them in, but its a good idea, other that there is really nothing super hard to diffcult in doing it.
You just need
1 new long side inner axle, new locker, new gears, new steering, (maybe new trac bar)
all the other kunckles out on the EB 44 will fit right on it

Thanks Mark! That must be why the welded C's are prefered. Why the new axle?

Because the Short side and the Stubs from the EB D44 are the same lenght (or close enough) to use in the Full witdh D44, just the long inner side is, well um longer.
Just saying, because you most likely know how old your axles are, where in a Fullwidth one, they could be 30 years old

Mark instead of moving the c-bush you could move the frame mount. Once you lift an eb the radius arm frame mounts really need to be reworked anyway so that the bushing is not bound up at rest. Though moving the arms in will get you better tire clearance if you need that.

Mark, I had Mike Ladd od mine when I had my bronco. He cut them, and moved them inwards quite a bit. I have heard that you can leave them the way they were, but I wanted it done right. I also can't see how mounting a coil spring in a arc like tha can be good. The mounts are further out and you need to mount the coil cup on top of the radius arm. Call Mike Ladd at Bent and Twisted and see what he can do. THe rest is pretty easy. You also have to move the track bar mount.

When i did mine i moved the c mt's in also. Other things to consider i had to remake my track bar cause the axle mt for it was cast into the c mts. You will also at the least make a new draglink and possibly a new tie rod depending on how you do your steering. I also had to get shorty headers as the long tube ones would no longer work with the rc44.

Explain this?? Besides we know that Mark runs a thrash lock, and really needs to step up to the plate, why wouldn't his carrier work:rolleyes:

It should work just fine. The locker is the same. THe only difference is the gear set. The standard cut gears will not fit in the RC housing.
I also had to get rid of my long tube headers. I got some stock Mustang 5.0 headers. They worked really well in there.
