I've got bad tail lights in my 79 f250, i have power at all three wires, so basically that narrows it down to a bad connector. I switched the bulb out so thats not it either. I go to autozone and checker and there are no rear brake light connectors available. C'mon out of all the old trucks i've had i always end up replacing these damn things, how come they aren't available? Anyone have an extra? I might be hittin the junkyards soon i guess.

If you have power on all three wires, then you don't have a ground. In that case, the brake pedal will turn on the park filiment dimly, and the light switch wil do nothing.
Hunter Thompson...nice.

what i meant was i have the power to the plug, but not to the bulb. I hooked an inline light and everything worked as needed behind the connector. So i had the power at the 2 wires and my ground was good. I think the ground isn't working in the connector, anyhow i picked one up at the ford dealer for25 bucks! ripoff man, but hey it works now. thanks

it was actually 28 with a new bulb and tax. I was a little pissed. I asked the guy why i can't get the one at autozone for 3.99 like on the GM trucks. He said ford won't release the patent for an aftermarket co. to produce them. Greedy bastards, chalk another hatred in the ford collumn, if i didn't know so much about them i'd even consider buying a chevy! ahh blasphemy :)

You should have gone to NAPA They will let you look at the book so you can pick one that is at least close and will fit I have done it a couple of times with old Fords.but they were more like $6.99+tax
