: Liner colors....
kerryphillips 11-19-2001, 09:54 AM I'm almost to the stage where I'm going to be herculining the interior of my Scrambler tub. I want the color to be tan or spice, I don't think herculiner makes this color, is there another brand thats good quality that offers this color, besides rhino-liner, I can't afford them..
thanks,
kerryp

They are pricey to IMHO. I wonder if any of those places would sell just the gooo to make it a DIY deal? I'd consider doing the exterior of mine in tan or something other than black.

Linex is a system that is aplied under pressure and heat. You can not do it DIY. Only stuf I have seen is Black.
Linex can be color matched to any colour you want. They did my whole truck for around 800 US.
Gordon 11-19-2001, 10:31 AM durabak is the same thing as herculiner made by the same people and everything they make just about every color you could want so you could even do a :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow:
kerryphillips 11-19-2001, 11:09 AM Is the durabak a quality product (ie. is it strong, does it fade, etc.). I have seen write ups on the Herculiner and heard it eventually fades, which I would guess most of the cheaper liners probably do, I guess I'm asking for anybodies experience with the durabak product....
Gordon 11-19-2001, 12:26 PM yep the durabak and herculiner are not as good as any of the spray on liners in my opinion. They stick great it doesn't peel off if you did your prep correctly. I have light grey supposedly the lighter colors fade in the sun more, but they sell the same stuff to coat cement decks and stuff that are outside in the sun all the time. The stuff also gets ruined if you spill brake fluid on it. You get what you pay for though, for less than 100 bones I am happy with mine.
I used battleship grey durabak to line my tub about 4 years ago. It's kinda hard to tell if grey liner has faded or not though.:D It doesn't look at all faded to me.
You can either roll it on or spray it. I rolled it, and I'm happy with it. I've seen it sprayed though, and it's a bit smoother.
4 years ago I think it was $99 per gallon for black, and $109 per gallon for colors, not not sure what it is now. That came with the roller.
I just ordered it direct from them.
www.nonslipcoating.com
If you hit the "truck bed liner" link at the bottom of the page there's a few pics of vehicles painted with it, a few close-ups.
It has started to wear off on the floor boards where I only applied one coat(I was running out). It seems to work good as long as you prep really thoroughly, and apply more than one coat.
kerryphillips 11-19-2001, 01:23 PM I found some stuff on the Eastwood Comapny web page
http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/cgi-bin/sgin0101.exe
and I'm curious how good this stuff might be, it is a spray on and you can tint it.
It also makes me wonder if you can pick up similar products at your local PPG dealer, if so, I may try some of that so I can get the color I want,,,,you just spray it on mith an under coating gun.
I should be able to do the spraying since its not as critical as painting the outside of the vehicel (e.g. its not as noticable if you screw up a little because of the seats etc.).
I just need to make sure I prep it correctly, plus who knows, if I get good enough at it, I may be able to do some side work and earn a little extra for Jeep parts :D
