Yes, I'm just worried about bringing the right amount of meat. I really need to get a more accurate measure of how many people will be attending. I know some people say they may not buy it, but I guarantee when people see the pits and BBQ they will.

I think I may make a little web page form on my BBQ webpage for people to fill out if they are getting BBQ.

Also, the people who get there friday night we'll show y'all how to cook/use the rub on brisket, and saturday morning we'll do ribs. We may also do some breakfest burritos for saturday and sunday morning to sell if people are interested in that.

Yea, Bryan pushed me into your product and I subscribe to the page. I was going to order some rub from you, but decided to wait until TPP. I know he (blk87K5) has caught some flak over the BBQ, but I bet the majority rules in this case. He and I will be there fairly early Friday.

typically, we've split into groups of 5-10 vehicles and it worked really well. The place is big enough to not run into the various groups if we start out spaced apart.

Do you have lockers? If so, I don't think you'll be too much of a burden to the big boys, so long as you're taking an interesting line. Ask Joe how he manages to keep up in his sami.

I only have a 4banger, and it's automatic, so I won't haev sudden burst of massive power. Also when I start wheel hopping I stop cause I havn't made a traction bar yet. I wheel thinking in the back of my mind thta my Dana 35 is going to break, so I try to be cautious. I do carry a set of spare shafts and C clips for it though.

And my 35" MTRs only measured out to 33.5 so it's not that bad.

It's been together, I wheeled it over Mem Day. Last weekend I took it out to 4wd Factory to finish the rear cage.

All I had to do was replace the timing chain, clean the oil pan, change the con rod bearings, replace the bent intake valve, do a valve job, install new cam, install new oil pump, clean and balance injectors and build a solid motor mount :flipoff2:

I'll tell you over a RB/Vodka what caused it all

At least you only had 1 motor to deal with. Did you have tohave your crank turned and if you did, how long did it take?

South Austin Machine has the crank from my truck now.

Other than replacing the con rod bearings as pm I didn't do anything to the lower end but cross my fingers :D I thought about pulling the block and doing a total rebuild but with good compression and not burning oil before the work and considering its basically trail only and I wanted it back together for Mem Day I just left it alone.

I took it to S Austin Machine too, they sure have a lot of cranks laying around.

nope, just a 6 pack. A six pack of light beer will allow me to enjoy 3 refreshing beverages in the evening hours of both Friday and Saturday. I might even bring a few Dr. Peppers and a big can of cold refreshing ice water. I better remember to pack some aspirins to offset the effects of drinking 3 beers in one evening.

Tearing things apart doesn't go well on a vehicle as old as Doug's that has had so much bootylicious work done to it. Most of the time it involves profuse integration of the gas axe.

who is bryan and where does he live? my boat sides, rockers, cage, frame and all are tied together. noting is removeable as far as that goes. on an EB i don't think it would be too hard though. just depends on how you current cage is tied in now.

I'll be there, taking Hensel's place. Just gotta get the welder workin in case I have to help someone out. And maybe finish the hand throttle. 1st run for the second version of the scrambler.

And since there's gonna be lots of us there and we're asking for stuff. I need 2 16.5x6.75" ugly wheels with safety beads, anybody got some? They come from fords in the 60s and 70s.

Hey I'm just wondering when most people will be off the trail Saturday night. I assume most people will be off the trails by dark, which is probably going to be around 7 or 8.

I just wanted to know so we know when to put on meat to have it ready for dinner time. More than likely we'll have a little booth type thing set up, basically you walk up, hand us money, we hand you the food.

Also, there's a big interest for breakfest burritos Saturday and Sunday morning, what time do most of y'all plan to leave on those days so we know when to have breakfest burritos ready to serve.

Thanks.

Tell us when foods ready and I bet we'll line up :)

I'm guessing 6-7 would be good timing. I'm really hoping your going to get to wheel as well right?

hell yes I am.

Most of the work will be done Friday night. We'll put briskets on Friday at about midnight. So if y'all wanna learn to rub, y'all can help us then, we'll have 7 cases to do. :D

Briskets will be taken out again at around 6am, and wrapped in aluminum foil with our BBQ sauce, they won't be touched again until ready to serve. Ribs will be put on probably around noon on Saturday.

I'll be able to help my dad during the most labor intensive parts, which will be midnight and 6am. My dad and my best friend Matt (doesn't have a 4x4 and is afraid he is going to die if he goes wheeling with us) will be able to help my friend throughout Friday night and Saturday. Most of the stuff during those time is just moving the meat around in the pit and other random crap. I'll go back to helping my dad saturday night when we serve.

Yep..put it in today. It's funny it sounds like I have a V( version of a starter..gives a deeper noise then the old one :)

Got the fan shroud back on and installed the hand throttle but not completely happy with it, I have to get a spring tomorrow and see if that helps get the carb to return to idle.

Other than that my axle seal should be in tomorrow, pick that up and assemble my axle and I'm ready :)

Drive to Austin on IH-35 till you get to hwy 71. Take hwy 71 west until you get to Llano then go left on Hwy 29 until you get to the square in Mason, then go north on 87 towards Brady 11 to 12 miles turn right drive till you see the sign.

Or drive to 7-11 and buy a map and learn to read it:flipoff2:

if thats to hard drive IH-35 to Georgetown to hwy-29 take 29 west until you get to Mason

I'll bet there is an even more direct way.... but DO NOT drive all the way to Austin if you come down I-35. Just turn West on Hwy 29 a little south of Georgetown and save yourself an hour :flipoff2:

Joe_W

Looks like best bet from 35 will be to take 190 in Killeen and head west to Brady. From Brady follow the directions on the website (head south on 87 till you see it on left)

I 2nd the "learn to read a map" comment though :D

8" wide would be nicer for my 14.5" tires. I'd just never heard of any safety beaded 16.5s besides the pair of 6.75" ones I had in my junk yard. I'll take them, anybody else got some 8" wide ones?

Cool I ripped my rear end apart last night and got it welded up, then I pulled apart another rear for spare spiders and they are heavily worn...but i dont feel like pulling another rear apart, so I am going to weld those also. Im gonna put the rear discs on tonight after I change rear wheel bearings at work today and then start on the front locker. If I get the front locker done then I wont have anything left to do except for load it up and pray that I have enough money to actually go. I am on vacation all week, but I have lots of work to do on my casa, so we will see what happens. Without a front locker is liveable, but it sure is nice when flex is limited.

Actually,
San Angelo is Dumb
Katemcy is Stupid
and Driving all the way to g-town/Austin is just plain at the moronic level. Face it.. The closer you get to Austin, the lower your IQ gets. Don't believe me? Austin is where Zaffirini, Hinojosa, Madla, Van de Putte, Wentworth, Williams ,Puente, Jones, Elizabeth, and Hilderbran work. That is proof enough. Those ten idiots collectively drop the average IQ of the entire state by 50 points.

The good news is, the transmission works in all forward gears and even has reverse, the bad news is, it doesn't have "Park", and I don't have an e-brake. Hooked up the rear driveshaft and took it for a spin in the pasture today to make sure everything was alright. Steering works good but slow with the 2" ram. Put my new springs on the front, poured some black pepper in my radiator because I somehow developed a leak, and repainted my hood. Still haven't mounted rear shocks and probably won't. I may just chain my axle like gunracer:flipoff2:
