That is it. The majority of those guys are good folks who want to attend both events. They have voiced their opinions politely and stated they would not do anything to hinder the party if we decided to have it on memorial day.

But some of the posers on Cowtown (i.e. HTD and Jon) are just trying to stir up shit.

I vote for no more TPP talk on Cowtown because it is not productive. I think all planning should be conducted on this the board of "fruits and nuts" from now on.

Personally I think it should be on another weekend, but thats because some of the guys I'd like to wheel with will be up in Clayton. Do I plan to go to clayton though? No. I've been before and enjoyed it, but it's pretty damn far away from me. So if TPP is held on memorial day I'll be at K-rocks. I don't think this is a conflict for anyone other than Dallas people, and that sucks for the rest of us, but are there no other dates that can be considered? Are there no other 3 day weekends?

Also I don't think we should have two TPPs. Just one per year. It makes it more special.

BTW It seems to me the only people pissing over there are non FWD-FWDers who just want to go to Clayton. All the people I enjoy wheeling with have claimed that while they enjoyed TPP they have an obligation to Memorial day and thus must reluctantly miss TPP. The people trying to rile everyone up as far as I can tell have no business even discussing it. Its moronic. FWD-FWD doesn't care. A few Texas wheelers regret having to choose, but basically don't care. And a few people who wouldn't come to TPP anyway are trying to make us change it.

Like I said it'd be nice to find another 3 day weekend, we can forever claim as our own, but if that can't be found then I don't see why memorial day can't be done.

Vendors:
There will either be a Flat Fee or Percentage (typically 20% of gross receipts) charged to each Vendor setting up a booth. This is the same setup for NARRCA also.

Night Runs:
One organized (Randy or Shane in control) Night Run of no more than 1-2 groups. This is due to Liability issues. Positively, no unauthorized night runs will be permitted. More details if needed.

Sponsors:
All NARCCA Sponsors pay a percentage to Katemcy (more details if needed). All sponsors will be allowed only one rig, driver and passenger for free. Anything above these numbers will be charged regular admission.

Friday Arrival:
Friday arrival is allowed, however this is directed to setting up camps. Some Friday wheeling will be allowed after either Randy of Shane are on-site.

This is just a summary of the e-mail, and I have more details if interested. If we want the park for Memorial Day Weekend, the park will be open to us. These conditions are not just directed to TPP, but most likely to all future events.

I know things were a bit "relaxed" at TPP compared to earlier events there, any indication if there were perceived problems with how things went at TPP?

Night Wheeling
One big concern was unauthorized and unsupervised night wheelin. This was mostly due to safety and liability concerns of all involved. The combination of Nght Wheelin, Alcohol, X several vehicles sent up a flag of concern. From a landowner's stand point, this is a large liability issue. K-Rocks does not have yearly liability protetction. They purchase liability protetction during the competition events only (according to e-mail). None of this is to say Night Wheeling will not be allowed, but permitted on a more controlled/supervised basis.

Vendors/Sponsors
One sponsor brought in 4 trail rigs + personell for free due to being a sponsor. In the future, it will be limited to 1 rig per sponsor. I do not see this as to be unreasonable.

As for the T-shirts/Merchandise, we did not sell t-shirts or merchandise, so this did not apply to the past TPP. In the future, this will be addressed on an "as needed" basis if applicable.

I personally did not find any of the conditions in the e-mail from Shain to be unreasonable. I did not post the entire e-mail due to the length only.

As previously posted, the park will be open to us on Memorial Day Weekend 2004 if we so chose to book it. Let me know your thoughts/opinions.

According to Shain, all vendors will be charged either a flat setup fee, or percentage of gross sales. If there are no food vendors there, K-Rocks will furnish food vending. Blake did not make a profit from the TPP, so he will have to re-think his sales approach. I would imagine he should add the 20% to his sales prices or break down the "Flat Fee" per customer count to analyze which works best for his situation. I personally think Blake did a great job, and I want his services back again. We, as a group, should make sure there are proper means to manage accountability for food purchases. This can be through pre-paid cupons or other means.

As far as BBQ, I'm going to have to raise my prices 20%. We weren't selling for profit so I dunno why they want to charge us. We didn't even break even. That means I'm gonna have to either sell a lower quantity of food, or raise the price of BBQ almost a buck and a half, just to pay the 20% fee.

After conversation witrh Shain, the usual retainer is $1K up front for weekend booking. This would be normal two day weekend. Since Memorial Weekend will be three days, this will probably be more. Also, I have not been given a package price from K-Rocks per vehicle for the long weekend. I should get this information later today.

After talking with Shain, the prices for Memorial Day Weekend 2004 should follow past fees. $25.00 per day, $40.00 for two day weekend. Since this will be a three day weekend, it will most likely be ~$60.00 for all three days or anything less, follow the normal weekend rates. This is not official, and I have not spoken with Randy on this. As per previous posts, will there ba a name change minus any reference of the word "Pirate"? If so, we need to come up with a title so the advertising can begin.

Also, my popularity on Cow Talk is now waning. I hope there will be a legitimate Texas 4X4 BB soon to come.

lonestar4x4.net won't work for a day or two. The DNS servers have to set it.
