Alright, well a catering company left a keg at my friends apartment and we need a way to tap it without a tap. All of the distributors are closed around here and we were looking to drink tonight! Any suggestioins?
Drill and a 1/2" bit.
Hammer and 20d nail.
Air chisel.

Ok, so put a glass under the spot where you hit the hammer...Or a hose with a nozzle on the end. Sheesh, do we have to think of everything!?!?!

None of your neighbors have a tap? When I was in college I had two. One at the crib and one in the truck, just in case. What is this, amateur hour?

I get this mental picture of a group of caveman prodding at the "shiny thing" with their spears, wondering what to do with it.

Wrong idea. Picture a bunch of guys in jeans and plaid shirts, beer in hand, taunting each other over who has enough balls to actually shoot the keg with their rifle.

Turn it upside down and push the ball in, that will release the pressure, then drill a hole in the damned thing.
I'm still trying to figure out what kind of college guy doesn't have a tap....

We used a broom handle to push the ball in but if your creative you can still get the beer out without damaging the keg itself.

Since there seems to be certain peps giving out dangerous info, I'll give you the lowdown.
Turn keg up side down and let out all the pressure. Note the keg will devolve "new" pressure as the keg warms up and the Co2 comes out of solution. You may need to do this a few times!!!
Once there is NO pressure remove the split ring from the spear. ( see pic) The spear will take your head off if there is ANY pressure.

most grocery stores rent them for like 10 bucks, and they are open 24 hours a day....
what about taking it out for dinner, dancing, a couple drinks then suggesting you go back to your place for a bit?

Not in PA, that state sucks if you like to drink beer.
You from the Pittsburgh area by chance?

just bust that mofo apart in the bathtub and close the drain. You'll have a bathtub full of beer.
Put some ice in big plastic baggies to keep it cool. That would be the shit.

Ok, lets just say me and Rock Dog kinda found a keg once, right. So, we just laid it on it's side and pushed in the ball in the tap and out came the beer. Just watch out how far you push it in. :D when you loose the pressure then drill it.
Park a Swamper on it.:flipoff2:
