I picked up a wagoneer D44 front end for my SAS this weekend and i need to have it regeared to 4.56 to match my rear end. How much does this usually cost at a shop? also does anyone know a good shop in San Diego? Thanks.

I think you can expect to pay around $160 for gears
$100 for the master rebuild kit (carrier bearings, pinion bearing, pinion seal, pinion nut)
$40 for new, open carrier for 4.10+ gears
And somewhere around $100 labor.
So around $400. In norcal everyone seems to go to gearman. That's where I went.

In San Diego there is pro gear in kerney mesa. Also MIT in el cajon. I know with pro gear it was cheaper if you have the axleout of the vecicle then in the vechicle.

Does Border parts do installs? I always thought they just sold parts. I don't know how he finds stuff in that place. when I was in there once there was stuff stacked all over the place.
