Alright, came here with a Disco that had a very high pitched whine and vibration under the passenger feet front. Got advice that it was likely u joints. I ended up just putting in a new drive shaft tonight. I still have the noise and the vibration. Something new. When I was coming up to a stop sign and left off of the gas, the truck sounded for a second like it had a jake brake.
Any ideas before I throw in the towel and take this thing to the dealer?

Yea, find someone on the board near you, that knows rovers. i am sure there is someone. Dont take it to the dealer, you will get screwed.

I have thought about that. I live in Northern Kentucky.
4x4's in general and Land Rovers for sure are way out of my comfort zone and I am getting frustrated with the whole mess. This has gone on now for more than a month and I just want the thing fixed.

This is just a big-time shot in the dark, but....
Check the adjustment of your e-brake -or- check for crud inside the drum. If your e-brake is dragging, it **could** make a noise some what like you're talking about.
