View Full Version : Naches, WA - June 1 weekend?!

There is a small Canadian contigent thinking about a Naches, WA trip for May-June 2003. Any Americans interested in showing us around again? The last trip was great (other than my small axleshaft incident) and we'll looking forward to coming down again.

Dates:

May 31 - maybe
June 1, 2 and
June 3 - maybe

Would Fri or Monday be a better day to wheel? Is Naches open by then? Snow mostly gone? Warm enough to camp?

BenW, Rick, Tracy, Jay - anyone in? Others?

Love too . I don't think.. but My junk won't be ready by then though...I will be going in July..

You should check with the Naches Ranger Station I don't think the entire trail is open until mid July to prevent erosion.

I'll be heading up to the Little Naches area with a group of friends for Memorial Day weekend. So I'll let you know about the trails and weather.

well the snow level's are up above where everyone camped for the 4th of july event, memorial day weekend is usually still a bit snowy, 2 years ago it wasn't bad, last year was more snow that anything... this year sounds better from what i've heard already from people who have been up there so far scouting around.

as long as my junk hold's together through UROC, and memorial day i'd be happy to come over there for the weekend to wheel again :D

unfortunatly i don't know most of teh trail system, just where the rocks are and a few other trails :(

Before mid-June, you will have to go in from the East side. The trail on the Western side will be closed until the rangers open it. You can be ticketed...

I might be able to go. Probably only for 1 day though. And only if everyone with c-clip rear axles brings spare shafts. :flipoff2:

There probably will still be snow in the higher areas, but it shouldn't be too bad. :cow:

Ya, I am wanting to go sometime that weekend, don't know exactly what day though. Probably could swing any day from that Fri to Mon. Keep us updated on what you are planning.

I'll be there will be C-clip axles. Let's hope I don't break another. And, for sure, I'll have spares. Last year I figured my Dutchman 31 spline shafts were NOT the weak point in my drivetrain!

Dale - What is your group looking to do? Do you want to run lots of trails, or spend more time playing at the rock garden, or funny/moon rocks? Any idea where you are going to camp? I'll probably go either Saturday or Sunday. I can hook you up with some directions to trails/rocks if needed, and you can order a map from the Cle Elum ranger district here (http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/cle-elum-orv/orv-maps.html) Naches ranger district also has a free map available, I don't know if they will mail you one though. I have an extra I can send you if you want. :)

I think we're looking to wheel for 2 days, maybe Sat and Sun. Maybe Sat we could do that long trail (that I broke on last year) and Sunday go to funny rocks, etc.

Cheers

Hey Ben, I was riding with Dale last year and was wondering if a full size would make it thru fairly unscathed.

JP don't you remember how tight some of those trails were? Remember Rick's windshield?

I might be, as long as you guys close the lid to the rubbermaid that has the food in it. :flipoff2:

Do you have a trailer hitch? We could bring my tent trailer.

No way. I have heard of Blazer size rigs making it through Shoestring, but anything longer wouldn't stand a chance. Even with no regard for body damage some of the turns in the trees would be impossible.

You would be able to take it to the funny/moon rocks and play though.

Well, it looks like the Canuck's will not be coming down. Schedules just don't seem to jive for that weekend. Maybe we'll try another weekend sometime in July/August.

Thanks to all of the local guys willing to take us out and show us around!

Cheers
Dale
