So I just got an early CJ5 body for my Jeep, and the brake and gas pedals from the other body do not fit. What can I do to make them work, or what kind of pedals can I run?

I have a '62 -5 tub and it had bottom-swing pedals, using the frame. I bought a set of over swing pedals from a YJ and plan on using those. Since I made a new floor (home made frame too), the flat section of the floor that is at an angle relative to the floor where the old pedals protruded was replaced by new metal; same location & dims. I haven't mounted the pedals yet, but I fit them up there and it looks like it'll be fine with a litte fabrication.

Is this what you were wanting?

Good luck -

I am thinking about building some tube pedals for this ting. I just have to get in there and really take a good look at what is going on in there.

dimitri,

Go with Wilwood pedals.

Both brake and clutch.. Get the master and clutch master while your at it.

Steve, what year is your tub? I have the early model with the sloped firewall which makes almost all the mounts all messed up. I do have the stock CJ5 pedals, but the mounts do not work. I am wondering if I can take the pedals off the mount, build a new mount, and then mount that to the firewall. It could work.

BTW, if anyone wants to come by and help me out at my house, there is all the  you can drink nin it. I do have a keg of Beach CHalet always on tap, so come on by...

I know Jeepsters didn't start production until '66 but they all had swing pedals . . . Might be a close enough match so you don't have to hack on the firewall too much

I have the later model CJ5 pedals, but they just don't work.. Oh well, time to start hacking and welding.

I gotta see how you did it. I will e-mail you and come by if you have a chance so that I can look at that setup.

What year is your tub? I have a '63 CJ6 tub and am using '83 CJ hanging pedals. I didn't have any trouble and I believe my firewall is the same as any used from '55-71.

I've got the later 76 and up pedals in my rig 68-75 style tub. Just put pedals where I wanted them drilled holes for the mounting points put a little heat bend in them to clear floor. It has been that way for a number of years. Have also got 4 or 5 more rigs running out of the shop that are done the same way.

Have you looked into the AA pedals & master?
