There were only 3 of us that went, but we had a good time and covered a lot of trails. Nothing bad enough happened to cut our fun short - everything was easy trail fixable!

Nice Jeep and good flex....I've heard good things about Gilmer and keep meaning to get out there, but just haven't yet. Hopefully once the Scram is finished I can check it out....I just wish we could find some areas like that close to home....

The Texas Motorized Trails Coalition, or TMTC is looking for additional land to purchase and develop into OHV areas in Texas. Check 'em out at http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/. If you know of any land that could be used in this nature please contact them.

Yeah, I'm actually keeping my eyes open for any land around here that could be used for wheelin, but land around here is pretty expensive with all of the Austin folks moving out this way.

One of the topics I was intending on bringing up at our next meeting was to make sure all club members became members of TMTC to help support their effort.

We talked to some of the TMTC board members at Gilmer and they need to find around 1200 acres in Texas to purchase and close on in the next 60 days - a little shorter time now. They said it really doesn't matter about how rugged or flat the place is because the dozers could make trails and rocks can be hauled in. They would just like it to be somewhat close to a large metro area - sorry, but Gilmer is close enough to Dallas. If anyone knows of any possibilities, write to them and let them know.

Thanks for all the compliments on the Jeep! I just wish I was done working on it........ wait.......... is that possible??

Hook up with us over on http://www.cowtownjeeps.com and let's take that Jeep up to Clayton and really wheel it, on rocks instead of dirt! Seriously, if you want to wheel and don't mind banging it up, hook up with us.

Thanks Jake! Those are Xenon 6" flares that are cut right along with the fenders. They're kinda bent up and reshaped from the tires shoving up into the fenders real hard before I added a little more lift. The tires are 37" SSR's - haven't had any of the problems that others have mentioned about SSR's (yet).

Tornado - thanks for the invite. I don't try to tear up my Jeep too much tho. I still use it every-so-often to drive to work. I'm still able to use it as a daily driver right now. Maybe after the first roll-over, I won't care so much! :D

My work is about the same distance - actually 54 mile round trip (that doesn't bother me or matter). What does matter to me is I don't want to be using your sig anytime soon. I enjoy going out and having a good time, just don't enjoying trashing my Jeep. :)

Hey fellow Texans. Good to know you're here.

Outlaw, did a guy named Wally go out there with you from the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas 4x4 club? He had mantioned something about going to Gilmer this weekend to join in on a run.

You guys should come down to S.A. for a run to the Den sometime. Its got EVERYTHING...rocks, water, hills, mud, more rocks.

No Wally. There was the Pres from the Sulfer Springs Chapt - Andrea, Chad - the blue Toy in the pic above, and me. He could have been with another group tho. There's about 1800 acres of trails out there. Hardly ever run into anyone except on the main entrance road.

Would love to come down to SA! Sounds like a lot of fun to be had. Looks like it'll be next year before I can make it down there tho. Keep me posted of runs out to the Den.

Sure thing. In the mean time you can check out pics of us farting around at the Den at: http://sanantoniotx4x4.tripod.com/

Click on trail reports. There aren't many pics of some of the more extreme rigs our member have, mostly guys with 31"-33" tires. Although the last time we went to the Den, a guy in a Ford Explorer joined us who had 35" TSL's. Nice rig, and pretty damn capable. There's a good mix of easy stuff, and balsy trails out there.
