no i didn't search bc i doubt anybody else was dumb enough to buy the 3.0L...
:flipoff2:
i've been discouraged by my ranger driving coleagues from trying to swap a SOHC 4.0L into my truck... i currently have the craptacular 3.0L- The power of a 4 banger cleverly disguised in a 6 cyl block!!!
anyway, the idea has been presented to me that i might be able to get an SHO Taurus 3.0L as a pretty significant bolt in upgrade... i found a complete 3.0 out of an SHO taurus, but its a 94-- ODB 1... basically my question is, how do i put that motor in place of my current motor, and pass inspection, and would it be worth it?
ps- mine is a 2000- ODB2... and its my daily driver until i pay it off... so it has to pass state inspection.

You should go 4.6 to make it a viable swap! Look at how the 4.6's are put in the exploders...:flipoff2:

dude, i'm gonna be seeing you in less than an hour... i'll smack ya then, bc you KNOW i can't afford the 4.6 swap...:flipoff2: that requires all new everything... from motor to wiring to tranny and t case...
if i can swap the supposedly more powerful SHO 3.0L into my truck i'll be happy- SAMI's can wheel with 4 bangers... and TOYs too... i can make a 3.0L work... i just want a little more grunt than i have now.

the 3.0 sho it a high revving motor and you would loose low end power.... It also has a diffrent casting of heads.... You would hate your self if you did.....

PS..... Theres a 4.6 short block for $200 on dfw stangs.... And the Efi wiring for $100 now all you need is heads... and a intake.. If you look around you can find some sweet deals.. I just whish I had the cash...:(

Yeah the sho engine is high revving and has low torque. Try looking into a 4.0L swap. You will be able to bolt it in, and the 4.0 L comes with OBD II. The 4.0L has 210 horsepower and 200 ft-lb of torque.

i know dude- i prefer a 4.0L... but its the DOHC that ppl say is a bolt-in swap... i am told that the SOHC, the 207HP one, is a difficult swap and a pian in the ass...
i would LOVE for somebody to tell me thats not true- and back it up bc thats what i wanna do... but have been discouraged by others. :(

Ford never made a DOHC 4.0 please go relook your info.. The 4.0L SOHC motor is alright with a auto tranny but for the little power gain its not worth the time and effort.. Phils phrase "Go big or go home!"

He's not saying there is a DOHC 4.0L he's saying he's been told the DOHC 3.0L bolts up and the the SOHC 4.0L doesn't. His sentence structure leaves a lot to be desired. :flipoff2:

:flipoff2: how's this for sentence structure FAWKERHEAD?
eat me!!!:flipoff2:
but seriously, how much work would the 4.0L out of the late model (00 or newer) be?
and COCK PUPPY, i DARE you to slap me.... i'll make you my ugly bitch!:flipoff2: and you and PHIL are all about "go big or go homo," i know- but i don't need BIG HP... i just want a better motor with a noticeable gain in power on both HP and torque ends of the spectrum-
75f100- i can't put a 5.0L in a 2000 and pass tx emissions laws... the motor has to be ODB2- and as at least as new as the vehicle itself... otherwise the 5.0L might have been in my truck before i SAS'd it.:D
