We didn't even get anywhere near the "hard" stuff before the 'trail" spanked us and sent us packing !!

SeanP 11-19-2001, 07:53 PM Thanks for the write-up. Looks like a fun day at the beach.
Lance 11-19-2001, 09:03 PM great rocks! looks like a lot of fun!
BigBadBob 11-19-2001, 09:10 PM Sweet writeup. That place looks like a lot of fun.
Chris Geiger 11-19-2001, 09:16 PM Nice looking rocks! That's the best looking east coast rock pile I have ever seen!

I'd have to agree there.
Paul Gagnon 11-19-2001, 10:03 PM Great write up Bill. Looks like you've got some cool trails out there in Nova Scotia. I'll have to come and check them out one day.
BillaVista 11-20-2001, 03:18 AM Credit for the writeup must go to Chad Loyd, also a POR BBS member - he does a great job.
The rocks on the coast are pretty unreal....they just go on forever. For you extreme guys, there are steps and ledges and little tidal return cracks that look totally impossible - I'll have to take more pictures next time.
My favourite pic is the one in the writeup, 3rd from top I think, wher Chad is on foot picking his way through the rocks, as he goes they just get bigger and bigger....
Thanks for the comments
ChadLloyd 11-20-2001, 03:42 AM About the difficulty of the obstacles, it should be said that when developing a trail like this, the first thing we do is try to develop the 'easy' way, which eventually becomes sort of the bypass or standard route, and once we are sure everything that way looks OK and gain more confidence in the trail, we start looking for ways to make the whole thing more difficult. (like at Cripple Creek, where we are now looking for even more insane 'cuts')
What I'm getting at is that some day those rock fields we went through might end up being the 'bypass'! Hard to imagine, 'specially as this trail has the added adrenelin of accidently rolling into the atlantic ocean.
Charly 11-20-2001, 05:02 AM I'll be right over. :D
1TONTJ 11-20-2001, 05:07 AM Where in NS is that? Maybe my club Ottawa Jeep Club (http://www.jeep-club.org) should come down for a visit?
Phil
AtomicBeesting 11-20-2001, 06:33 AM VERY COOL!
These are the first 'east' pics that have ever appealed to me.
the next time one of our right coast friends says they don't have any rock i will simply tell them to Road trip EAST. that gets it!
Man, that looks like fun!!
I may have missed it, but where is that located?? I'm assuming somewhere in Canada?
Might have to take the truck up there one day :)
Boss
ChadLloyd 11-20-2001, 09:01 AM The general location is Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the exact location is somewhat secret. :) If you do ever get up this way, let Bill or myself know and we'll try to arrange a 'viewing'.
Greg W 11-20-2001, 09:49 AM nice clean rocks. I hope you didn't get washed out to sea by high tide:D
NE-RokToy 11-20-2001, 10:23 AM I've seen pictures from that place before, and got to admit there really isnt anyplace else quit like it! looks like a great time, you would never get bored out there
Patman 11-20-2001, 12:00 PM Awesome!!! Just have to love Playground trails. Unlimited lines in every pic, in every direction, and no dust or dirt!!! Neverending (almost) Fun. Now how do I ship my wheeler to the rightcoast?:D
Nice writeup Bill.
85TrailToy 11-20-2001, 04:09 PM Looks like some cool ass Right Coast wheelin'! Too bad it's 1000 freakin' miles North of here.:flipoff2:
Cliffy [JD] 11-20-2001, 04:56 PM I'm on a network with DSL and I still can't load those BIG ASS PICS what's up with that.
ChadLloyd 11-20-2001, 05:25 PM It's not the pics, they are small, but there's somethign wrong with the 'net this neck of the woods, my high speed access is screwed and I know a lot of others are too because my mail server (on the other side of the country) can't get through to them. So hang tough, hopefully it will clear up soon.
Dingo 11-20-2001, 06:20 PM Kewl pics.......I like the SOA'ed Cherokee too. And I must say that is pretty ballsy wheeling, looks like if you were to breakdown in the wrong spot, you had better to be able to fix it quick before the salt-water gets to it.......hehe.
Nice to see some canadian rock crawling  its to bad its faster for me to get to cali than to n.s.
riffman 11-20-2001, 08:16 PM hell yeah!! thats bad ass!!
FJ4ZROX 11-21-2001, 06:48 AM Sweet wheeling. That looks more like West Coast rocks - only sans-dust. I'd hate to have to race the tide on trail repairs, but I guess it adds to the challenge.
ChadLloyd 11-21-2001, 07:00 AM Actually, the tide isn't that bad. If you look at the second picture from the top in this thread, you can see in the background a section of rock which is brownish? That's as high as the tide gets. We were fairly careful to keep a reasonable distance away from the tide area, both for safety and environmental reasons.
However, there are spots where if you did a really bad job of rolling it, you'd end up in the ocean, and the waves there can be wicked.
