I just wanted to ask opions of others who have oversized tires on there truck
I have a 2002 chevy 2500HD crewcab, which has a 6" lift, but I'm still using stock wheels and tires. I'm going to put 315/75R16 (35x12.5x16)tires on it.
I like the Goodyear MT/R's but I hear they are the loudest of all the howlers, Supposedly Cooper makes a tire that is supposed to be alot quieter than the others.
I'm looking for a meaty look that wears well, thats quiet. Theres prolly no such thing, but I can dream.
All your opinions on any tire of this size would be much appriciated.

X-terrains...and while you're at it, go with the 37x13.50x16 for a truely meaty look.

I run 305/70-16 X-Terrians. They are not what I would call quiet, but not loud either. At first I wished I had gotten the all terrains, but I soon got to like the hum.

You can do what you want to but you can't go wrong with the old standard BFG Muds. They give you great tread wear and are not all that loud. Nitto also makes good tires but their mud tire has not been out all that long so it is more of an unknown.

I love the sound of the 13.5 wide, but i dont think i can get them under a 6" lift being 37" tall

MTR's are NOT loud. Whoever told you probably never owned a set or doesn't have a clue as to what loud really is.

I dont own MTR's but thought I had read they are really soft. i.e. wear out fast.

I ran a set of 33" MTRs on a 92 bronco for just over 20K. Took them off and moved them to a 4Runner. They have just under 50% tread based on Goodyears specs. As a note I live in an area with Chip and Seal roads from about three miles in all directions. That $hit eats tread.

I now have a set of 37" MTRs on the Bronco.

If someone is really looking for mileage they should probably consider an all-terrain tread rather than a mud tread.

Sawzalls are amazing units..... I took this Corvette (http://www.frommild2wild.com) and used a sawzall to put the narrowed dana 60 under it. :D

I found this link (http://www.4x4review.com/products/tires/GoodyearMTR.asp) which is a pretty good test of the MTR's

I'd agree with that link and add that they work great on snow and ice covered roads. Paved or not.

If you do any amount of street driving I would defiantly go with the BFG all terrains. I am currently running them on my F350 Crew Cab 4x4 (35inch) and my Toyota 4-runner 4x4(32inch) and love them. I have had several sets of BFG Muds and they are loud on long road trips. I cannot say about the MRT’s since I have not owned a set. From everything I have heard the X-terrains and all Explore Pro-Crap tires wear out fast compared to the BFG’s. Everywhere I look, the recycler, and on-line people are selling these things with little use.

BFG's are good, not too loud and wear well. I run a set of 35's and have no complaints. Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers are good for little wear but are pricey.

I'm definatly going with the BFG's or the MTR's, Im leaning twords the MTR's because I have an incredible quote on them at $205 a tire out the door. and these ultra type 148 wheels in chrome, a total deal for $1821 drive away price. these wheels cost a grand alone.

$205 per tire (assuming that does not include the cost of the rim) is outrageous.

Shop that one or deal with them. 37's (MTR's) generally go for around $165 - $175.

I'm not positive about this, but wouldn't he have to buy the outrageously expensive MT/R's made for the hummers if he got 37"s because his truck is a 2500 HD?

Never said that is the size for him to buy. As a matter of fact in his opening post he states the exact size he's looking for. My comment was to simply point that he can get a better price.

must be the rim that is so expesive then, because nobody else will beat that $1821 price total.
But thats the only rim I like.

Try a 35x12.50/18 BFG MT KM on an 18x8.

Thanks for all your help guys..... I went with the BFG mud terrain 315/75r16 mounted on 16X8 AMR atlas's, all under my trailmaster 6" lift. I'm pretty happy. Thanks again
