: swap D60 hubs
texican 05-08-2003, 09:47 PM I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any single axle front D60 Hubs and rotors they would like to swap with cash for the dually versions?
Or does anyone know if they can be machined to be narrower somehow?
Butch
Toploader 05-08-2003, 10:56 PM Butch, you can machine the outer wheel flange off, and use the "inner" flange where the rotor is for the studs. I think that you will have to enlarge the holes for the studs though.

fj40charles 05-09-2003, 05:19 AM Whatcha up to Butch? Getting ready to install the 60 under a 40?
rugburn 05-09-2003, 06:20 AM I seem to remember Hayraker doing it for his Scout.
Lotsa beer, a new lathe and gunracer doing the work.
It can be done.
I may do a search for ya, things are still slow here at the shop.:flipoff2:

HTH.
john;)
What you cooking up Butch? Fill us in man.
Try to contact someone at www.coloradok5.com or some of the other full size Chevy web sites. There are always people looking to swap out their SRW hubs for DRW hubs.

texican 05-09-2003, 01:54 PM OK OK Since you insist, about a year ago a guy came into the shop and had a mini front end, in the back of the PU, someone told him I was a buyer, he wanted $100 so we unloaded it, we were talking and he mentioned he had the running gear from a Chevy ton truck also for sale, it was closing time so I loaded up and followed him about 20 miles south to look the stuff over, I bought a 14 bolt rear and a D60 front dualie, SM465/NP205 with both driveshafts for $400.
My rear is way narrower than the front, since it was out of a cab & chassis and not a dualie PU
Josh and I are thinking about building a High5 style Cruiser out of it......wish I had the funds for the 203 crawler, I have the 203 but would still need the adapter and convert the 205 over to the T400 input. Near as I can tell about $1200 more to do that.
I have a roller cam 4.3 Vortec TBI, and a TBI 350 I could use either to power it.
Decisions............:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

fj40smith 05-09-2003, 06:36 PM Butch I just removed a T400 that was mated to a 203 T-case.So I have the adapter that mates the T400 to the 203 if thats what your looking for.I also kept the front section of the 203 the gear drive I was going to sell both.612-366-1292 I think you bought some axels from me. That had to hurt! I still can't believe he posted that picture himself!:flipoff2:
texican 05-09-2003, 11:38 PM No, you have to have the T400 input shaft to go inside the NP205, because the adapter is set up for that it is fine spline, where the 465 version is the 10 spline, or I need to swap my 465 205 for a T400 205, confused yet, cause I am.
Tiki, I'm very comfortable with everything about me.I know it must be tough being

wngrog 05-10-2003, 04:19 AM Butch,
One way to go about it is to run the Dualy fronts with a set of Hummer wheels.
That puts you just about right for the width you will want. Running the Hummer wheels with the standard front hubs is too narrow in my opinion.
Finally, you can EASILY pick up a wider 14 bolt to replace the narrow cab and chassis version you have. Then you can use 4 hummer wheels.
They are the best bet for the $$ and they are double beadlocks.
That is the setup that Rock Taxi was running (D70 instead of 14 bolt) and his rig was just as wide as mine and he had $1500 in axles and I had $11,000
Anyway, I would keep the front, spend the money on making it 35 spline (ask high5) and find a wide 14 bolt. They usually run $150 for us mortals so you shold be able to find oe for a 12 pack of shiner and 4 bald recaps :flipoff2:
