There isn't much at FR either..just the creek bed. But at least there isn't the pass to deal with in case it's still fawking snowing that weekend.

As far as camping, FR is supposed to be a good place to camp...MR, well, you know. What about MR and then some other trails around Reno (Bronco Canyon, etc)?

OK, I'll chime in on Raines

Yes the wheeling is a little weak, however the creek bed is a good time, especially with all the rain this month. About the only rocky spot, but you can spend a day playing in it easily. There are a couple rock sections that you can makes as easy of difficult as you want. Camping at Raines is not really camping, nice pads, with RV hookup, flush toilets and hot showers.

Oh I've got a run I want to talk to the ranger about opening, between Joel and Zuk we might be able to open it, PM me if you want more details.

I've pretty much decided I'm going at least Saturday, Maybe Friday to score some decent sites.

I am sure you guys have seen this post of Frank Raines last weekend http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=137769 which makes the place look really run fun. Well in those pics is about the only couple of places on that trail that is fun. The trail it self is like maybe 3/4 miles long. Good trail to go with a few friends to test stuff you just worked on or a mellow trip with more beer drinking then wheeling. If you have a bunch of people show up on a busy weekend to go wheel there it will be a traffic jam. And you can only go so far and then you have to turn around and come back the same way. Not easy to do when you have a bunch of rigs on the trail. We had 8 rigs and when one person got to the end to turn around everyone else needed to turn around and head back.

Just thought I would give you the heads up for the people who have not yet run this trail. SICK place to ride Moto. Hill Climbs for days! I would recommend going to either Bronco or MoonRocks or somewhere in Nevada if you planning on a fun trip on a trail or a place to wheel.

Wish I was going to be around to wheel with you guys but unfortunately this Memmorial Day I will be in Maui. Aloha!!! :flipoff2:

Cause I don't think there is going to be room at HH for camping. Hell even Raines has more rock then Hollister.

what's the weather like at this time of year?

and

what trails? any of the easier ones (I know.. no such thing as an easy hammer trail.. I'm just not up for competition class trails yet)

I've never been to the hammers, and I don't want to get in over my head with my zuk..

well what else am i gonna say ?

if it's hot were shorts and if it's cold were pants. i dunna know it is the weather and it's gonna do what it wants to do. either way i am going wheeling.

as far as the trails we usually don't know that until we are actually on one. even then your not really sure if your gonna run it or get denied and turn aroung with your tail between your legs. :D

so we will be at johnson valley and drive around untill we break something. then we will wrench on our junk until we run out of spare parts and then go home.

Camo, thanks. I can deal with driving around, getting broke. :)

I just can't deal with super high temps - I've had heat related injuries before (cramps and exhaustion, just short of stroke), and I'm not going through that pain again.

I wonder if anyone complains if I bring a big, picnic table umbrella. :D

High Desert Roundup. About an hour north of the Hammers (Barstow). Not as fun as the Hammers, but less windy. There should be anywhere from 250 - 400 vehicles there. Been doing it for 10 years straight now.

we always bring lots and lots of water as well as shade.

i was hospitalized once for heat stroke as a fire fighter. no fun.
