desertoy 05-09-2003, 11:27 AM Here's the deal.
Carnage for the cause will be held on THANKSGIVING WEEKEND! At the Hammers.
3 rig teams.
As many teams per club as you want.
The challange will be to run "Back Door" and get back to the drylake AS A TEAM in the quickest time.
The trophy will be $hit talking rights for the year and the option to set up and name the place for the next event.
We will use this oppertunity to donate $100 from each competitor to the Blue Ribbon Coalition.
NOONE CAN BEAT THE BENDERS IN OUR BACK YARD!!!
morpheus 05-09-2003, 11:32 AM $100 per competitor or $100 per TEAM ??

Per competitor, (Per vehicle)!
Each vehicle can have a spotter.
Azrckcrawler 05-09-2003, 11:35 AM That's the same weekend as the AZ event

Flatty 05-09-2003, 11:52 AM $100 per competitor is rather pricey if you ask me. Why don't we make it $100 per team? I know we head down to the hammers every thanksgiving, so SRC is in if the price comes down a bt. We are driving from the Bay Area, that makes the trip expensive already. Let us know.
DImitri
Lance 05-09-2003, 12:10 PM It was $100/vehicle last year. Get of your wallet.
Flatty 05-09-2003, 12:36 PM Was it really? I don't recall that. Oh well, sure thing. So Lance you guys coming?
Also what is the money going towards saving this time?

IIRC the bender's were donating for surprise canyon...
Flatty 05-09-2003, 12:58 PM Maybe we can say that the winning team gets to pick where it goes? Surprise is a great place to donate to, but i would like to donate to the con, or someplace up here. How does that sound ot everyone? Winning team gets to pick the cause?

yea, the bender's were the winning team last year so they get to pick the cause... if SRC win's this year, they get to pick the '04 location and cause
Flatty 05-09-2003, 01:15 PM Ahhhh... I see said the blind man

Show us some pictures of "BackDoor", I think the Actual name is Twisted Canyon.
By the way, Thanksgiving weekend is key, SRC will be there anyhow!

Quit whining Jack :flipoff2:. WE had to plan a weekend that was good for as many people as possible. The benders will get up to AZ. soon enough. Even though you were planing on hosting an AZ. weekend on Thanksgiving, you will still be able to make it right?
flatty- $100 is alot for me to come up with also. But it's worth it. Just tell the wife the truth about how it will help the BRC combat environmentilists that are shutting trails down, and if that don't work....Lie and tell her you want to buy her an EXPENCIVE piece of jewelry and you are $100 short, when she gives it to you go buy a cubic zerconia (sp?):D:D
Still waiting for pictures here!!!
Flatty 05-09-2003, 04:08 PM BWAHAHAHAAH I will have no problem coming up with the cash. I was just thinking about some other people that may. Also, we may want to plan this one out in a different manner than the other ones. How's this sound to you?
Open to as many teams as you want with as many people per team as you want. $100 per entry. Minimum of 5? people per team.
Start at camp, let the teams go in intervals. Entire team leaves camp at the same time, and time does not stop until the last car crosses the finish line for the team. When everyone is done, the next group goes and romps the trail. There are no "set" lines to take, just get there, do the trail, and get back. Upon arrival back at camp, everyone must pound a beverage of their choice (come on, gotta make this fun right?) whether that be a beer, or a Dr. Pepper, or a water. The team with the best time from start to finish wins the right to "donate" the funds to the surprize canyon relief fund, and has the right to pick the spot for next year's competition.

Krusty 05-09-2003, 06:34 PM Flatty--- it sounds like you have the idea !!!!!
Just another thought--I don't think there is any way to 'cut' the course-- but,-------- I (on my own), will, (say five rig teams), set five objects at about 1/2 way, each vehicle must return with one . Not announced what it is, but will be easly seen and recovered (picked up). It would work for three, four ,etc,etc--what ever the starting number is-

The nice thing about "back door" is, once you start there is no turning back. I like the "beverage" idea.

you can still turn back in teh first couple hundred feet, if you've got enough motor/tire to get up teh sand walls :D
axle59 05-09-2003, 09:16 PM Are you guys going to need any sort of volunteers for whatever?? My truck is not even close to being bad enough to try some of these trails but I'd love to come out and watch and/or help if you need an extra body for anything.
yldkat 05-09-2003, 09:22 PM Doubtful I'll attend. Let's see if my reasons make sense:
Drive 8-9 hours, spend $100.00, run a trail that can be run in 3 minutes, and for what? Ohh, yeah, help California 'wheelers keep a trail open, and the Possibility of naming our own cause next year.... Whoopee! Why am I not crazy to sign up??
Dunno man, seems pretty lame in comparison to coming to AZ and actually WHEELING.
Are you sure it's THE BENDERS behind this??
Ahh well, what do I know........
Have fun with your little game.

RE:Todd 05-09-2003, 09:52 PM 1 spare body for each team, a set of cones. Trail has to be run, not the bypass lines, use the cones to limit the bypass lines (1st obstacle, bail out to the left!!!). One member of each team to keep on eye on the trail and the rigs!! Bill, are you part of BTG and have you been to the Hammers? This will take a morning max, and leave the rest of the weekend for some balls out, having fun wheeling!!!
And some partying after wheeling, I know where your priority lies :D :D:flipoff2:

Hey Todd, No I'm not with the BTG, they wont have my kind in such a classy club. :D I have been to the hammers, and your point about the rest of the time to wheel is valid. (And Drink:flipoff2: )
I'll be the first to admit I'm all butt hurt over you guys deciding to do this instead of coming to AZ for Thanksgiving. That's probably why there's so much attitude in my post. your ideas and disscussions will be considered as possible actions and the event will be monitored by outsiders.
so if what we want to portray wheeler as bunch of idiots who must combine motorsports on public lands and the consumption of "beverages" than you are not helping the sport or our cause you are just giving the powers to be another reason to close public lands to motorized travel.
Have the liability and land use issues been resolved with the change of date?

Air Ride 05-12-2003, 01:15 PM I like thanksgiving date much better. The new rig will be done and well tested by then. I think it should be $100 per rig. If your club cant raise $500 by thanksgiving then your club sucks.
Flatty 05-12-2003, 02:04 PM Air Ride, the cost has been establlished at $100 per vehicle entry. As many rigs as you want can enter per club with a minimum of 5 rigs.

well when all 3 rig's fit on one car trailer and have less combined horsepower than the tow rig, you need a handicapp ;)

Gordon 07-01-2003, 04:55 PM I might show up to spectate and wheel. Do you need unofficial unbiased judges, to arbitrarly decide which person won the unofficial non event? How does the start work is it timed one team at a time or is it a desert race to the trailhead?
Krusty 07-03-2003, 09:08 PM Gordon-- there is nothing etched in stone as of yet-
one general accepted idea would be a team leave the camp and when they got back--- then the next team would leave -etc etc-- but it is a non-event that is totally sponatnious with no planning, no sponsorship, done by no clubs , on a non-planned trail by non-partisipants three or four or five at a time, just on a trail ride with non-competion in mind, just out to see the sceanery and enjoy the desert and dust.
It does seem that one group from the land of tall trees in the northern part of central Calif- is getting REAL SERIOUS about the trail ride -- not to mention names, but they did place SECOND last year when there was a COMPETION. !!:D

I'll be there to watch and party. the rest of BTG already has plans for that weekend, so I'll be clubless. Any clubs want to adopt me? :D
H8monday 07-12-2003, 03:38 PM The pirates will be there with a very strong team,....errr I mean with a group of friends with strong rigs who just happen to be there on a non competetive weekend at the Hammers.
This should be a wild time at the Hammers.

:flipoff2: Hahaha, yes there is always that possibilty! But then again show me one driver who isnt continualy improving their skills that doesnt do quite a bit of both.:flipoff2:
In any case, I have no idea who will make up the Pirate team.
We have Bob Roggy with his new TJ comp rig, Casper's and his new awsome rig, Lane and T-Roy both have new comp rigs nearly complete, Billy Bob and Rotten both have there old school beasts in top shape, Hollywood's Goliath is ready to kick ass, we have Lance, he is always able to get winning results from his Cruizah, Kevins, kicks ass in his new Roggy linked Toy, Timbo's linked flatty is 100% and amazes anyone who watches that thing run, we have Glennby with his Suzuki Viagra buggy, WB in his rig, Dusitin in his new comp rig, and then me, and my rig will be complete by then.
With any luck Ill be able to kick back, get drunk, and make of fun of you guys while the POR team kicks your ass.:flipoff2:
Krusty 07-19-2003, 11:32 AM Jeff--- here you are talking bout everybody that has new/tested 'competion' rigs-------
this is a trail run- not a competion !! looks like the Butpirates just might havta drive their tow vehicles !!!
None of the Benders are building anything special-- we drive our street legal, drove it there, daily drivers !!!! The same rigs that we have had for years !!
Mine--85 yota -street/smog legal- daily driver
Ryan--stock jeep--broke a rear driveshaft on a speed bump at wally-mart--legal 'cept for MUD FLAPS !
Fat Kid- same ole slammeri
Rammy- purple street driven jeep
Rob- 85 yota-street legal/smog--daily driver(only sourse of transportation)
Homeless DToy-- same rig for years !-
Toad- 85 yota-- nuttin special- family runner-had to paint it yellow soos people would even notice
Stomper--84 yota-- street/smog--untouched for years--
Pat-- just a stock/smog jeep-street legal
Mike- garage built yota-home made (couldn't afford to BUY parts)
Phillip- just a stock engine jeep that the back end fell off of-
Curtiss- stock XJ-un scratched by rocks only transportation
Andy- stock XJ- --------ditto-------
Andi-- 83 yota--street/smog legal- daily driver-
Camo--- can't make it across dips in the road--- FAMILY rig-couldn't afford real paint after all the lights
Mustard Dog- Just a bent up ole FJ- family rig with scabbed on alum. diamond plate to cover some of the dents and missing parts- chrome air cleaner tho !
----accounting for 16 of the rigs- should I go on ???
So you figure youse guys havta build new rigs cause you can't run with our equimpent ???!!!!
:flipoff2:
we drive there, kick ass, take names, and drive it home !!!!
Krusty 07-19-2003, 12:19 PM Upon thinking about the whole thing-----
I am haveing trouble grasping the concept of competion !!---
we Tin Benders are a greatly mis-unterstood gathering of people that draw enjoyment just sitting with our familys around a campfire and discussing the state of the world. It has been rumored that someone saw us with a beer at one time- I find that idea hard to grasp. We are a quite group that tries to blend in with the general SUV population and not be too conspicious where ever we go. We usually gather in those 'out of the way' areas soos to avoid large throngs of people.
We just gather up our vehicles made from junkyard parts, cast away peices, and 'hand-me -down' stuff, -go to some desolate spot and enjoy the sights of nature !!
.
.
.
.
.
.
bring it !!!!:D
H8monday 07-19-2003, 04:35 PM Geeze Krusty dont freak out, this is just the rigs that we drive, no one is custom building a fleet of comp rigs to compete with.
But still you can hardly call the TB team from last year a bunch of old beat up grocery getters. My rig was probably the most street legal rig on the team.
In any case Im not trying to argue with you, Im just saying we will be there to play, and we will have some pretty capable rigs and drivers. You seem to think that I will just be an easy push over and I was simply stating that I will probably be on the drinking team,...no more, no less.
Calm down I dont want you getting all worked up. Its all in fun.

Im sure everyone planning on participating, fully understands the premise, of showing up for a little trail run.:D

BTW, all the other clubs knew the dates, it was POR that needed the extra 6 months;)
Run dog 07-21-2003, 10:02 PM From what I hear, I doubt the Pirates or the defending Tin Benders have a chance or will be the 2003 CFTC champions. Glad I have that in writing... Because after the POR "Dreamteam" spanks the pathetic Tin Blunders ass this year in their back yards, we'll move the next year's carnage to the mountains for some REAL wheelin'... You guys better go buy some jackets! :laughing:

Oh wait... Did I mention team POR will even have an all FEMALE team as well? Not only will our 1st string team spank your :rainbow: asses, but our GIRL team will make you look bad too!
And about this "all rear steer blah blah blah" team - I believe we have had an agreement in the past that clubs must be established clubs, not overnight made clubs for this event. That's lame - I'm sure I could get Tracy Jordan, Mike Shaffer, Shannon Campbell, John Gilleland, and John Bundrant to come out and make EVERYONE look dumb...

Funny, I heard the same thing.
Run dog 07-22-2003, 01:03 AM Lance, it is for the cause and to raise $$$, go get Tracy, Gilleland ect, There are no cones just OPEN competition, Hell, those small light weight buggies would probably break on big rock. No penalties for rear steer, ect . Wait a minute, maybe that's why none of them showed for FERNELY this year. Last year, according to the smack on this board they were going to allow a new club to enter. Is that no longer the case or are the Pirates getting scared??? I agree with the Benders, you guys are bringing guns to a knife fight. So let's see who really has the most extreme club rigs(ha ha). By definition what determines an established club? We have a name , bylaws, meetings ect. Heck, we have a run scheduled at the end of this month at Fordyce creek. so let us play. We will not beat you guys up to badly. I want to see just how well the pirates can wheel something other than the Sluice. I think the extra $500 will be going to a great cause. Let us know. RUN DOG

Dimitri
Krusty 07-22-2003, 08:13 PM SRC--?? Sometime Rock Crawlers ???-----
the NON-event is still in the formative stages-- even tho the dates were changed to accomidate the whining POR.
The fun run in the desert is still open to all 'clubs' that think they have the what-it-takes to do a 'club' run better than anyone else------ the real 'format' has not been etched in stone--
but it won't be one rig against a clock-- but rather a 'club run' of team work and club skill-against the elements-
I think it is a real compliment to the Tin Benders when you think that the Pirates are so scared of the Benders that they have to build new equipment in an effort to overcome their obvious poor driveing skills !!! But now, their over powered monster machines will surely go down as they did last year---- :flipoff2:
I have even heard of some competion club that thinks they have the skills and ability to do something other than their own small, little, tiny, down south, one rock, stack !!! (dreamers)-- (they even have to rely on a TIN BENDER to do their photography for them !!!!!!):D

Carnage for the cause will be held on THANKSGIVING WEEKEND! At the Hammers.
5 rig teams.
As many teams per club as you want.
The challange will be to run "Back Door" and get back to the drylake AS A TEAM in the quickest time.
The trophy will be $hit talking rights for the year and the option to set up and name the place for the next event.
We will use this opportunity to donate $100 from each competitor to the Blue Ribbon Coalition. First post on the thread

As far as a one rock pile borrowed photo fag,No account small time back woods wannaclub. We no doubt have no prob bringing our junk out for a good cause. As far as rear steer none of us are smart enough to operate some thing like that. Nor do we feel it would be required to Haul ass!:flipoff2: :D

Fatkid had a standard leaf spring system, not really a buggy just a LOT of tube.

The 'one rock' bunch-- it isn't who can 'roll-over-roy' the quickest=-------- but which TEAM can git to the camp site in tact !!!
Todd is further in the pic- AND drove it out !!!!
Womens team--------- big deal !- We Tin Benders are starting our KIDS team !!!!!!!!! what with Bender's, Pat's, Mustard Pup, D Toy's, Camo Kids, Toad's------ the team grows !!! (5 drivers - 3 in training !!) Bring on them wo-mans !!:D
Krusty 07-23-2003, 07:33 PM :emb4: I guess its time that we confessed a bit--------
If I had my digi, I would give a couple sneek peeks- but Rob has it---
Ryan has put off his wedding long enough to afford the 'minor' changes he has made to his jeep. The TDS group knows what a good driver he is, as well as fearless-------
So he has been working on his jeep in secret- and I don't know how much static I will get for letting the cat out of the bag------
cut the jeep in peices, tubed most every thing, went to a supercharged 4.3, I'm not sure of the trans- to an Atlas- and the coil over links to the crowning touch-- moog running gear- (no mud flaps yet). The Benders have all been working on this heep for quite a while and trying to keep it under wraps--- But Jeff (H8)has been becomming so vocal about the tough iron of the Pirates-- well--- I couldnt let it lay-:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

OK, compare that to what we brung. All I'm sayin is the trophy belongs up here. Thats all. At this poing, por only has one complete tube chassis buggy, and its kind of a pos. The rest are all just mildly modified jeeps and toyotas...but we're not the ones making excuses so early...

Well, as long as the pirates and benders get to run first so the trails aren't clogged, I guess they can follow along. If they're nice I'll even let them wash my truck for me when I'm done...
I would have got back to ya sooner but I was having some hardware added to the skinny pedal leg. Should work better now. :D I understand about your wanting to run early as this will give you time to get your buckets and sponges ready to wash the winners Jeep. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

H8monday 08-10-2003, 02:15 AM Blah, blah, blah, this topic has become totaly lame by any standards. Quit worrying about what brand of junk you plan to drag through rocks, or who and how you preffer to have your paint cleaned and waxed.
Nobody is gonna give a rats ass about what your "also ran" rigs look like, after the POR teams set the best times.
I appluad the TB's for comming up with such a viable challenge, and cant wait to see, who and what teams actually show up to put there money where thier mouth is for this worthwhile event.
Still, it will be great to have the championship up here in gods country, where it belongs, for next year.:flipoff2:
And no need to clean or polish our rigs after the event, just stand back in awe, hoist a few beers, and respectfully "recognize" the champions. :flipoff2:

RealJeepMan 09-25-2003, 11:20 PM So is this eched in stone yet? The Contra Costa Jeepers are looking at forming a team and need confirmation. Running on Fri?, Sat?, Sun? We need to know soon, so we can build some "comp" rigs.

EMIEVEL 09-28-2003, 11:53 PM Do I need to belong to a club officially? I got too much metal in me to be anything but a Bender though! Now that I think about it...I fit the Pirate image better than any of them. I could be their mascot!
Chris
RedBullJeep 09-30-2003, 10:07 PM Lisa, you gonna have your formula Toy done in time for this??? If you joined us, we could run as Team Red Bull...I'd love to follow two hot chicks around a course like this!!! Even if we just ran for fun / not the title, I would be stoked to play, seeing as we'll be there anyway to support BOTH sides...Benders AND POR equally!
Though I am a CRCA member, I wouldn't want to run with ROR and RE:TODD as I wouldn't want to go as fast as those two crazies...
RealJeepMan 10-01-2003, 09:19 PM Does anyone know if this is still on? Did the benders call it off?

Krusty 10-01-2003, 10:16 PM As far as I know as of Roxxxx Bash------ the trail ride is still on for Thanksgvn weekend. Of course since it is a 'non-event' --'there is nothing planed:rolleyes: '----
seems like Backdoor usta be a 30 min trail-------- the last bunch of four that tried it-- breakage and a couple flop overs---- 3 hours-
but they were not 'first line' rigs-
who ever shows up on that weekend, on the lakebed campground, and deceides that they might wanna go for a 'trail ride' with others of their club--while wheelers of other clubs wait for their return------:D 27/28/29 Nov
The Tin Benders just might be there.:flipoff2:
Roxywheels 10-01-2003, 10:58 PM Who all is planning to be out there on the 27th and who's cooking T-day dinner?? :D :roxy:
Krusty 10-01-2003, 11:29 PM Roxxxx--- there just might be a couple Benders--- seems like no other clubs have what it takes to be there !!!!!! HAS been a lot of talk from the mall crawlers-posers, but REAL wheelers are in short supply !!!!!
As far as grub--- who knows ?? a can of beans might be on the menu !!!!
the club with a small rock pile did a lot of talkin- but they only have one or two rigs that are not posers !!! Great in the camp for 'kodak moments' but in the real world--------- :D
Roxywheels 10-01-2003, 11:37 PM As it stands right now it looks like I will be attending this *non-event*....just not sure when I'll be there. I guess there really is no need to rush out there on the 27th if no one is going to be there, is there? Just make sure to bring my candy canes....I'm still upset I missed out on them at my bash! :( :roxy:
Krusty 10-01-2003, 11:45 PM If you look at the numbers-- 4K look at's-----170+ peoples actually posting------ probably 20+ will show up for a trail ride-- TIN BENDERS :skull: Cause who else but Benders will wheel other than their own driveway or more than pose their rig with one tire on a curb ??????:flipoff2:
Like YOU have seen recently------ only Benders will PLAY hard enough to take on the trails by day and then play 'monster truck' with broke motor mounts or ring/pinions by nite !!!!!
Only Benders are not afraid of a scratch or bent fender or the possibility of a lay over !!!!!!!
( where did I leave my can of wax ?? gotta get ready !!!) might need some of that tire shinney stuff too !!
RealJeepMan 10-02-2003, 12:18 AM If it is still on, what day is this non-event taking place? Thur? Fri? Sat? Sun? or all? In order to make plans and have enough rigs show up we need to know this. If you dont want to post, please PM me.
Ryan
Krusty 10-02-2003, 07:26 AM Ryan-- as far as I know- I guess that most will be comming on fri-
and most of the trail ride will be sat. but there might be a few runs before that if the trail is as time consuming as it seems to be-
we are gonna check things out this month to see the real time game plan-- may take fri/sat to get all on the trail- but we'll let folks know-
I and some Benders will be rolling in at the Hammers on thur- to set up camp and do some wheelin .
:p
Danger Ranger 10-02-2003, 08:19 AM URJB is still planning on coming and destroying stuff for a good cause... Come Awn :D
Well I should be there as always. I plan on being there on the 23rd or 24th So if any one wants to come play early let me know!
RE:Todd 10-02-2003, 09:10 AM I'll be there mid morning on the 28th. The non-event rules and dates will be posted after the FrostoberFest weekend.
Current non-rules are 5 rigs per team, $100 donation per rig. All donations will be to a land use organization of the TinBenders choice. The non-event will be a trail run from camp, through the BackDoor, back to camp. Time starts when first rig leaves, time stops when last rig get's back. Each rig can have a driver and 1 spotter.
Mrs. Maniac 10-02-2003, 10:00 AM Hmmm, most of the Pirates aren't web wheelers so they're not here. Rest assured though that they will be there in force.
Shouldn't the winning team get to choose where the donation goes? So is it up the canyon then out through the sand dune? My rig doesn't like sand :(

hottrod 10-02-2003, 12:38 PM I love it !!! Ant is already making excusses !!!!!!!! "don't like sand"---'don't like rocks'---can't wheel without trees,-----rock pile is too big-----muffler bearing is loose-----loose nut BEHIND the steering wheel----------------------
Nope, I dig that canyon, just wanted to keep it a rock crawling challenge rather than a "who can get up the sand hill" competition. I guarantee some potential winning teams could get screwed out of a win cause their rock crawlers aren't set up for "sand drags". Reguardless I'm screwed anyhow, I got no team to compete with. Probably just end up being a spectator.
Desert Jeepin 10-02-2003, 01:15 PM bitch bitch bitch...
We Tin Benders get to pic because we won last year. The winning team this year (us) gets to pick next year and so on and so forth.

Yeah, cause that last time I checked, the powerhouse 22R was the ideal motor for 'sand drags'
And yes, 90% (just a guess) of the Benders run that motor.

So whats your point? Sand Drags aint rock crawl'in last time I checked! Sheeeit why don't we add a RTI to the comp while were at it :flipoff2:

my point is that if you can make it up a 50 yard hill in a stock powered yota, you should be able to make it up in anything. Besides, if you can make up the second fall, the sand hill shouldn't slow you down a bit.
if you'd like to make a left and up Upper Backdoor, more power to ya.
d
Our club went up the canyon last Thanksgiving, we had no problem on the water fall (its rock) but when we got to the sand hill we were screwed. Had to turn around and go back down the canyon. I've never wheeled up the canyon past the sand, is it bitch'in?

yes-- the best all around club should prevail !
The 'line' strategy should be obvious-- if you have a good 'rocker' he leads that portion-------- a good 'sander' he leads that section !!! all about teamwork- start to finish:D

well actually Todd has 2 of the fryers and I could bring the second one out if needed.

JC THAT WOULD BE COOL IF SOMEONE COULD REPORT WHAT WAS HAPPENING ON THE COURSE. BUT AT THE SAME TIME SUSPENSE WOULD BE GREAT.
Krusty 10-10-2003, 09:43 PM JC-- I was thinking of the same kinda thing-- but I only have C/B-- yours would be MUCHO BETTER !!! a report on how things are going on the 'trail' but NOT how 'they' are doing it ! ie; breakage, flops, rolls, etc,---- not straps, chains, winches, shovels, helichoppers --- I've got a large shade umbrella- a couple chairs and a ice chest !!!!!!!:D :D :D
Also thought there should be 'white board' in camp with starting position and completion times , maybe split times for given obsticals, etc- Don't need a stop watch-- a calendar clock will work fine !!!!
For the Pirates - say a cut off time -like 10 hours and a DQ:flipoff2: (H8 and bunch will be a DNF !! but Jeff puts on one hellava show !!)
I totally agree Krusty. No advance notice on technique but all other info is game:D I am already working on the "white board" and I am sure we will talk about it at Frostoberfest. Not to mention test the radios:D

Damn, it looks like your memory is slipping even further ol man.
Since when have I EVER been known for DNF'ing.
Yeah, I might make a mistake here and there, but if youze benders spent more time driving and less time yapping you would know that that is just part of improving your skills. But regardless of how spectacular my mistakes may have been, I always,...repeat,..ALWAYS keep bringing it. The POR club is a hard charging group of drivers, and we will be ther to prove it.
The proof will be at the trail run, so you guys keep practicing your race across the whoop-de-dooos, but be prepared to have your asses handed to you on your own well practiced course.
And Krusty you can just use what limited memory you seem to have left to remember the good old days, of your one winning event.(and I sure didnt quit that day, I had one hell of a good run on the upper course,....17 points):flipoff2:
StinkBug 10-12-2003, 11:24 PM Ok so what does happen if a member of a team DNFs? does the whole team get a DNF or what? Definitely gonna have to pencil this "trail ride" into the calendar, at least to spectate and drink some.....
Grape soda :flipoff2:
Dallas
Krusty 10-13-2003, 08:07 AM It is a club 'trail ride'----- you leave camp with 5 rigs- you return to camp with 5----------- what ever it takes !!! drag the SOB, carry it - but get all 5 back !!!!! there is no DNF unless no one can make it back ! Ya got 5 rigs and 10 people-- surely they can figure out something to get 'broke' rigs back !!
I think the only way to DNF, if the club 'throws in the towel' and calls it done. and calls for a 'rescue mission.'
Wolverine 10-13-2003, 10:50 PM I need a tow
Just to clear up a couple things...
please confirm the 5 rigs per team ruling.
I know it was 3, then it was 5, then it was 3 teams of 5 ...WTF:confused:

Krusty pretty much summed it up two posts above yours...
Time starts when 5 rigs leave camp... Time stops when all 5 rigs return to camp.
Backdoor has no optionals except the sand hill around the first obstacle which will probably be blocked anyway.

I'm not a bender, but I'll chime in anyway, the only way it won't get run in one day is if there is HUGE turnout or someone requires multiple major recoveries :D
The trail is very short (three obsticals) If run without a hitch, it could be done in 20-30 minutes. It is only .5 mile from the lake bed.
Your club won't be disappointed, its gonna be a blast and the money raised goes towards a good cause.
Bring it

Mustard Dog 10-22-2003, 05:40 PM Saturday is the official day for the trail run. If it gets too drawn out we'll finish up on Sun;)

If my run through the course is not faster than any other clubs' competitors, I will donate an additional $500.
Surprise Canyon was my favorite trail and Panamint City my favorite destination. It would be sweet if someday they were reopened to us.

Brian--
Krusty 10-23-2003, 07:41 AM 'format' is easy---- draw from a hat for club running order
5 rigs out and back.
driver and passenger allowed per rig
a lot depends on how many teams show up !--
official start Sat.-
I was there a few months ago with a group of 6. Some of you guys were there.
Only 3 made it to the top under our own power, 2 broke early on and one was dragged up. We were there about 4 hours.
If the plan is to get every rig through , no matter what, it could take all day just to get one team of 5 through, unless things get really ugly, then it could take a little longer.
Hope nobody has a problem 'wheeling late at night :D

Krusty 10-26-2003, 10:21 PM we have seen people blow thru like it was flat ground------

Mostly depends on the driver and technique !!!!
IF a rig has trouble, that is where the 'club' teamwork comes into play.
