Why do they need help if the customer is always right?

Why do birds fly south for the winter?
Because it is faster than walking :P

HOWS THAT FOR CHIT CHAT!

Oh, that's right. Every serious wheeler needs a glass beader in his tool box. Be sure to pack some extra glass before you hit the trail, you never know when you might run out.

So what is the difference between the glass bead blasting, and sand? I need to get something here pretty soon.

glass beading is typically a cleaner process.. dont end up with dust. Allso glass beads are spherical instead of ragged like a piece of sand, so typically a better finish is obtainable..

hows that for tech???

Fact is its an awesome tool to have in the garage for cleaning/deburring/stripping rust etc.

I sure wouldn't mind having one, are you saying you couldn't find a use for one? Doubt it would be of use on the trail though :flipoff2:

Sorry my comment shoved sand in your vag bro, lighten up...;)

I think the more you buy the better the price. I used to but 10-12 5gal buckets at a time for the prop shop and $27 sticks in my head for some reason. Unless its gone up that much ???

Don't apologise, I think it's funny. But really what part of "general 4x4 discussion" do you not understand? There's a place for this and it's not here.

Well if thats tech then I'll only be the first to tell you your wrong.
You do get dust from glass beading..its glass.
The main differance is not the finnish but the fact that it does not remove material like sand blasting does.

If you want a slightly rougher finish mix in 20% garnet. It will remove the hard stuff better.

I feel better:flipoff2:

Sceep, if your still in Albuquerque, try Santa Fe tool on central, or you can always pic some up from Northern I think. Both are fairly close to the Campus.

Aside from that, sweet score. What size etc.

nice score!

another nice thing about glass media is it doesn't have the same tendency to warp sheet metal that sand does. One draw back is that it isn't nearly as recyclable, so it tends to be a lot more expensive in the long run - but IMHO worth it if your working on sheet metal etc.

I could sure use one on my current project - cutting off the front of my EB at the firewall, replacing all rusted metal in the bulkhead, fabing a tubular support for the fenders, grill and radiator, and then semi-reassembling it all back on my tubular skeleton. Removing ~30 years of grime, paint, and rust is going to be a major PITA, would be much nicer with a glass bead machine.

here's and idea.....how about i'll be the moderator and you be the pbb member who reads and contributes tech. i have no broblem with tool discussion as it defaniatly pertains to 4x4 tech. how ya gonna build and maintain a rig with no tools ?

fyi. i own a large glass bead cabniet that i use sand in. i quit using the glass when the local industrial supply store quit carring it. for my needs sand does the job.

I'm pretty sure that with a differant nozel you can use baking soda to strip paint. It's been around a while in the hotrod circles as a use for stripping paint off old cars without damaging the metal.

Do you know what it would take to use shot in it? You could make some $$$ doing con rods for people.

Great score for $100.

I personally think that you started raggin on him, because you wanted to be cool, and thought that others would rally behind you, and you were wrong, so now you aren't backing down because that's not what "pimps" do. Just STFU, and let these hardcore mofo's talk tools already. Don't need to infest it with your mumbo jumbo.

Now that I'm done doing that, I would like to say thanks guys for the knowledge. I had no fawkin idea what he was talking about until I read this post. Tools = tech. I learned some tech today. I feel good. :D
