Hi, I'm trying to identify parts from a 76 half ton chev 4x4. I think I got all the required numbers, but need to know what reference book to get, or maybe someone here would be good enough to fill me in on what I got with this rolled truck. I'm gathering pieces for a rebuild of a 1950 panel deluxe, with some attitute.
Front axel reads C36585, and in another spot, 44-5CF and the top plate reads 18-73, (is this a gear ratio?). Has 10 bolts on the cover.
Tranny has two plates on either side, maybe a sm465, but there's info on the mud page for looking that up...
T/C reads C-99404, has a center round plate, and appears to be cast iron. Also has the NV logo, and AA next to it.
Rear axel reads c238 and has 12 bolts on the cover.
Anyone have any input as to which frame to use? What's easier-modifying the '50 frame for the newer stuff, or modifying the 76 frame for the 50 body? Is there another frame that would fit better? Maybe a blazer? I'll be using a 350.
Thanks for regarding infaqntile questions from someone just learning this stuff-and luvin it!
