I am replacing the power steering pump on my '86 k5. the pulley is being a snatch. there is a alan key slot on the end of the shaft. Do I need to remove this bolt to remove the pulley? Which way is it threaded. It is stiffer'n sh@t any suggestions on how to remove the pulley?

The pulley must be pulled off the shaft with the proper puller. That hex-hole sits in the shaft itself... its threaded further in since the proper puller also re-installs the pulley again.

There is no bolt holding the pulley on. Its strictly a friction fit.
