I heard solicitation through cell phone was illegal. Not sure if this is true or not.

search ... we covered this a few weeks ago.. It is illegal if you have to pay for your text messages, also illegal if you are on a minute based plan.

Can you not report that type of stuff? For me to get a text message, I get charged for it, and I'd be getting pretty pissed off if I had to pay for spam messages.

Bringing this thread back up, I just got my first text message spam. Since I get charged for each text message I send or recieve, what's the best way to go about reporting this? Call the number in the spam message, or call my phone service?
I can see this shit getting real annoying real quick....

Report it to your carrier. Some fawks have figured out carriers will have the complete range of numbers like 404 310 0000- 404 310 9999. So they set up a computer to spam them all. The last one my company caught in Atlanta was some scam deal from the middle east. Before that it was a south african deal.
Now what may happen in the future is you will walk though the mall and the stores will have low range transmitters by the door and they will spam you with store deals to lure you in with sales. you will be able to opt out.

Hehe I live 3 miles from a BIG mall and I think I last went in the mall about a year ago. Now I do hit the sears every once in a while but I go in through the door by the tool section and never step foot in the mall.
