Which is better to go with regular or reverse rotation. My 98 TJ is an automatic w/ 30/35 which needs to go. I was looking at a 60 for the rear and a 44 for the front. My TJ is just for fun only, will 4.56 gears be ok or shall I go for 4.10?
Someone hasn't discovered the search button yet.:flipoff2:
How can we tell you what gears to run when we know nothing about your tire size?
I'll help you out, although your question was kinda vague. I'll give you my opinion based on the information you gave. I'd say go with a reverse rotation primarily for better driveline angles. I'd say the reverse rotation D60 ring and pinion (run in the rear) are only marginally stronger than a standard D44, but you have the option of running 35 spline axles. Rule of thumb. Reverse rotation axles are stronger in the front, and standards are stronger in the rear. Just remember that alot of rear D60s have small axles (roughly the same as a D44). The housings are heavier (lower center of gravity), and are significantly stronger. For moderate wheelin' I'd say a D44 might be adequate for tires up to ~37"
As for gearing find you a gearing calculator online and plug in numbers (e.g., tire size, gear ratios, and highway cruising speeds.) For moderate wheelin' and daily driving look for gearing in the range of 3.73-4.88 for tires in the 33-35 inch range. All of that depends on engine size too.
Next time exhaust all of your search options, and provide more information about your rig and your intentions.

Yup, we need a bit more info on your rig before we can answer something like that

I tried to edit my post but it doesn't look like it update it. Sorry.
Here are my current specs:
4.0, Auto, Currie 4" lift + 1" bL, d30/35, 3.73, 33 MT/R's, all Currie steering componets plus a bunch of other shit.
My goal is to run 37" MT/r's.

4.56s, TJ auto and 37" MTRs is about right.
Go with HP axles, dana 44 with alloy shafts and CTMs upfront and HP60 in the rear.

Beast you've been around the block a few times. How are your axles holding up, any problems? Did you end up getting them from CRS? Also how much did you shell out $$$?
